日前受邀出席一个由联合国发展计划及妇女、家庭与社会发展部联合主办，讨论决策层30%妇女固打的研讨会。这研讨会是一项研究计划，策划者在汇集各领域的妇女的意见和加以探讨后，将集合成备忘录，呈交给政府和各政党。 在分组讨论的阶段，笔者被分配与其他各政党的妇女代表一块儿讨论。听其他女参政者的心声，倒也令我大开眼界。一位巫统的女上议员说，她是被巫统代表们在大会里直选进入最高理事会的3个女性之一，但是她却没被委派担任任何官职。另一个国阵的女上议员说，她的外籍丈夫因为不满她忙于参政而忽略了他，离她远去。 一个前巫统女国会议员因着丈夫不要她再出来竞选，而被逼隐退政坛。一位国大党的女代表说她是在孩子皆已长大成人和在丈夫的影响下，幕后协助某政务次长，但是无论她多么忙碌，她都要确保她把丈夫爱喝的咖啡冲好，放在暖壶里保温。
