Dear friends,
When I was distributing national flags to my constituents on 30th August evening at OUG night market, my helper received a call from a party member that the TV news reported that I am being sued for defamation by Tony Tan, a former member and volunteer assistant in my constituency office. I was abit shocked and annoyed to hear that, but I continued to give away flags and I told my members who were with me that we should ignore it.
Neither my lawyer nor I have received the summons till today. May be they have not got the copy of the sealed summons from court.
Just a matter of clarification to what has been reported in the MalayMail, this guy Tony Tan or Tan Chee Chong has never been my executive assistant, but was appointed to be my volunteer assistant after the 2004 general elections. I terminated his services one year therafter due to certain problems attributed to him. It was this act of termination of hisservices that sparked the animosity between two of us, till today.
My Seputeh key leaders and I met with the Ci Yuan Association committee key people after the news came out in papers. They feel sorry for me but they pledged they will give full cooperation to me on my case.
We have had a good dinner session and shared our views with regard to Tony Tan, the guy whom we all have placed our trust in the past. We have felt sorry for his family and children, and thats why we spared legal actionagainst him, which we had contemplated before. However, under the ircumstances it was decided that we should defend ourselves and counter sue him.
This may have to do with the general elections which is approaching.
I will comment further after I have read the statement of claim/summons. Iam not afraid at all as I am speaking the truth and I am holding on to the truth.
Those who stay in glasshouse shall not throw stones — this is my advice .

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 31): A businessman is suing Seputeh MP Teresa Kok of the DAP, two Chinese dailies and their editor-in-chief for defaming him in two news articles accusing him of misappropriating public funds.
Tan Chee Chong, 42, said Kok, China Press Bhd, Sin Chew Media Corp Bhd and their respective editors-in-chief had libelled him in the articles published on July 16.
Tan claimed that the defendants had portrayed him as a thief and a person with serious financial problems who misled the public into believing that he was an agent of the DAP or the Ci Yuan Association before cheating them of their money. He claims that the allegations against him were false and the articles were also on Kok’s website.
Tan is seeking general and aggravated damages as well as an injunction to stop the defendants from repeating the libel.
Dear YB,
if u have a solid leg to stand on, you should not be worried. What I do worry is that some people may use this pending case against u in the GE in whatever way possible.
can our courts hear this quickly and resolve it cleanly? I bet not since it comes to surface that some judge do not write a judgement for 30 years and beyond.
Dear Teresa,
2 colleagues & I were sued for defamation in 1982 when we were all TAR College lecturers.
We were Lecturers’ Union ExCo members who stepped on someone’s toes.
Without going into details, I just would like to say that as a Christian, I just stand on the Bible verse Luke 18:1 & prayed until 1989 when the plaintiff decided that the civil suit be called off & each side paid for our own lawyers.
Hope you trust God to see this suit through by praying & ask your church brothers & sisters to back you up in prayer.
Thank you & God bless you in various ways.
Dear YB,
Kindly take note that your defammation case has just been found in the e-FORUM of the Community in Kawasan Parlimen Seputeh. It is reckon that this even would be widely discussed among the folks in the community.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Parliament is in session and while I am too tied down to have time to respond to cyber snipings, rest assure they won’t escape the eyes of our legal team.
