Nazri Aziz: Malaysians who live abroad do not love our country

Posted on Thursday, 17-03-2011Wednesday, 23-03-2011 by -ec-

(Chinese translation below)

Press statement by Teresa Kok, Member of Parliament for Seputeh in Kuala Lumpur dated 17 March 2011

Nazri Aziz’s sweeping statement that Malaysians who live abroad do not love our country is most hurtful and disrespectful of their contribution

I am appalled by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Nazri Aziz statement in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday that Malaysians who live abroad don’t deserve the right to have the postal vote because they don’t love Malaysia. He said, “Kalau dah duduk (luar Malaysia) 5-6 tahun, tak balik-balik tu, tak sayang Malaysia lah.”

His statement is most insensitive, hurtful and shows utter disrespect to our fellow Malaysians’ personal choice to live abroad whether for work or studies. He ought to recognize that in today’s globalised world, Malaysians will travel to wherever they can to pursue what they perceive to be a better life, higher income and brighter future for themselves and their loved ones.

This pursuit for a better life must be respected and it is most shameful of Nazri to use it to cast aspersions upon Malaysians who live abroad.

Furthermore, his statement reveals his ignorance of how Malaysians who live abroad contribute to Malaysia’s economy by way of foreign remittance.

I urge Nazri to get off his moral high horse, retract his hurtful statement and apologise unreservedly for his most hurtful remark to Malaysians abroad. Failing which, he gives the Malaysians living abroad yet another reason to stay abroad, far away from the idiocy of Nazri’s insensitive and hurtful remarks.

This idiot Nazri is a poor excuse for being a MP, shame on him and shame on the people who elected him. His bigoted thinking and arrogance is by training in UMNO.

    Enche Nazri,

For your information all those who are residing outside Malaysia including the many Malays, love Malaysia but most of them hate the ruling Government.
The day BN, which is made up of 90% MORONS, is kicked out by the people, I bet you with my life that almost all of them will rush back to Malaysia and contribute to the country.
“HIDUP MALAYSIA” and down with the present BN(unless it changes it’s policy).

a lot of the ruling parties children are living overseas too so why not direct your tirade against that too Mr Minister.

People work overseas trying to have a comfortable life when they eventually return to malaysia. Is there any crime or disloyalty ?

Many Ministers’ children study in the UK, USA and Russia.
Are they disloyal to Malaysia? Why don’t they study at UiTM? Do they think that UiTM is not on par with the foreign “budaya-kuning” universities? How dare they be so disloyal to Malaysia!
    What a bunch of hypocrites!!!

That chap must be so cocky. There is a widespread knowledge that many ministers and prominent personalities friends, relatives and children even when supposely photographed attending social events here – holds either a PR / dual citizenship (quietly !) or are actually based overseas (with many in neighbouring Sg. He’s just trying to hood wink the rural folks as usual

Nazwi mangkuk is of course only referring to specific people such as Razak Baginda+family in Oxford, UK, Sulaiman Taib+family in Canada/USA, BN own families and kids overseas, and other tak-sayang-malaysia groups of people….. .

The fact is; Nazri is worried BN will not get a vote from them, as they are better informed about the developments in Malaysia and they are brave to say NO to BN.

Nazri, I have a message for you: Those who talk balderdash and nonsense are traitors to the country. Since you talk trash, you have the privilege of being the No 1 traitor to the country. Frankly, Nazri, you are trash. You are a disgrace to your country.
