Teresa Kok is an enthusiastic, energetic and enterprising lady, always on the go and working from dawn till late at night almost every day.
“I wake up at about 7am, and start working at about 8am.
“By the time I call it a day and go home, it’s usually past 11.30pm,” she said.
Teresa has a driver to take her from one place to another, so she could catch some rest in the car. But most of the time, she is reading letters or newspapers and making arrangements for appointments on her mobile phone.
“It’s very taxing and many people don’t understand the situation,” she said, citing the demanding residents as an example.
No stopping this lady: Despite her busy schedule, Kok still has time for a walk.
“Sometimes the residents refuse to deal with my staff and expect to see me personally to solve their problems.
“Some even scold me for not showing up during floods while my assistants, who are my representatives in Puchong had already gone in the downpour to look into the problem,” she said.
Teresa said although her busy schedule was very taxing, she tried to make it a point to do some regular exercise.
“I must go for a walk once a week. I feel that I get tired easily if I don’t,” she said.
“Once, a business journalist wanted to talk to me over some Chinese investors issues. I said I could only see him at 11.30pm and when he showed up at my condominium, I had this urge to go for a walk. We ended up talking about the issues while walking for half an hour, and I did some stretches along the way,” she said.
StarMetro: Do you blog?
Teresa: Yes, my blog address is teresakok.com Lim Kit Siang started it first and his blog became very popular, and many of us followed suit.
StarMetro: How much time do you spend on the computer each day?
Teresa: I have less time to blog and update my Facebook now. I also don’t have the time to reply the e-mails individualy. I have posted on my Facebook that I won’t be accessible for some time due to my busy schedule. While waiting for my turn to speak in the Parliament, I use the time to blog and reply e-mails.
StarMetro: Are you into movies?
Teresa: Yes and I enjoy award-winning movies, those that are highly recommended or highlighted as controversial in the press, and whatever that catches my attention.
StarMetro: Do you enjoy reading?
Teresa: I don’t have time for reading now and what I read mostly now are executive summaries and reports.
StarMetro: Got a nickname?
Teresa: No, but I know my members call me Si Tau Po (Cantonese meaning “woman boss”) sometimes.
StarMetro: Why did you name your Facebook’s FluffPet as Taufoo Pok?
Teresa: I was registering an e-mail account but all names were taken up. After a few attempts I was angry so I thought why not try some Chinese food? I tried Taufoo and bingo, it’s available (laughs). Then when I was required to type a username, I thought of Taufoo Pok.
StarMetro: What languages do you speak?
Teresa: English, Malay, Cantonese, Mandarin and Hakka.
StarMetro: Name an idol whom you look up to and why.
Teresa: Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar. I admire her for her untiring struggle for the people, democracy and human rights.
StarMetro: What’s your favourite food?
Teresa: Pork steamed with salted fish. I hardly have this dish now but it’s very nice.
StarMetro: Favourite actor and actress? Why?
Teresa: Anthony Hopkins and Gong Li. Both of them act very well and Gong Li is very pretty.
StarMetro: You have a weakness for…
Teresa: Earrings. It’s something you can change every day and it’s noticeable.
WELL done, Lady Boss..
Wish I can speak chinese, I would greet U in the language too.
Personally i do not know of anything that this MS KOK had done and/or performed…but i guess the voters of seputeh or kinrara must know sumthing or have benefited from this gogogo lady. wat i hope from our chosen politicians or MPs is honesty, transparency, integrity etc in making decisions on matters relating to the ppl. Knowing human behaviors either from government or private sectors, power and money breeds corrupt practice. anyway all the best 2u Ms GOGOGO but i do hope less of religious thingy in ur blog.regards
PS: we do not need to inform or broadcast to ppl wat religion we believe in or practise. It is who we are or wat we do is more important.
Excuse o moire, mr allpolitikus..
where above or which blog did Teresa preached about her religion? or try to convert others to her religion, unlike UMNO and PAS????
To consolidate the position of DAP / Pakatan Rakyat
government in Puchong area, I have a suggestion to really work on the alternative road linking to PJ (Tmn Maju Jaya/ Medan Pejasa /Sri Sentosa area ) via Kesas Highway. And also to “reactivate” the project of a linking road behind Tesco Puchong to Subang Jaya for the benefit of Puchong Folks.
PLEASE REALLY WORK ON IT THIS ALTERNATIVE ROAD. Because ERADICATE TOLL is highly improbable, of which I think it is near impossible looking at the Contract embedded in the LDP Privatization scheme.
From: Pusat Bandar Puchong resident.
Granpa,
Teresa has some catholic scripts on her blog…look on the left.
mr allpolitikus..
now what is WRONG about YB put a bit of her spiritual belife in her OWN blog? I am not a catholic and I find no problem with it.
Do you find someone representing their own religion in their own domain offensive? That’s not Malaysia’s multi ethnic spirit. It is immature and even dangerous.
Do you feel uncomfotable seeing a monk/mullah/priest/rabbi/temple/mosque/kuil/church?
I don’t understand what’s the fuss?
Personally, I find those credit cards advertisement even more dangerous as it encourages imprudent spending.
I mean left, granpa. left
haha.. now i have no problem with religious scripts n text be it quran, psalm, torah or bible because all are promoting faith on the one and only. unless she was a freethinker that promoting godless society, that would be an issue.
i have a great respect for my former primary headmaster Rev. Bro. Lucian Ng who always visit the ‘agama classroom’ in la salle primary school in ipoh some 20 years ago just to ensure the learning process is good ( as malay are minorities, muslim from all class of the same batch should go for special classroom for agama lesson) .
things that seems to be problematic for me to deal with is, the act of some people that hailing the western way of thinking, but never follow the positive attitude of the westerners forumer. eg. : discussing in wise way with wise words. let alone without hatred and racist remarks. arrogant, childish and rebelious. that waz the best labels.
it just like u put them in a sewerage treatment pond, they will at any stake, will stop the oxidation process.. and if u put them in a lush n green woods, they cut all the trees down just to laugh out loud.
anyway.. yb teresa is now is part of ruling government of selangor. pls dont kipas him as she was still an opposition in this state… and.. in the parliament… she wouldnt have any tendency to brought crap words of few post here into the House i guess.. so please come up with constructive issue rather than spoiling one..
pueh hati aku!
It doesn’t matter whether she is a catholic or buddhist or even a muslim as long as she championed for the people and keep the rakyat’s interest close to her heart. She has been selfless and worked extremely hard for the people. May God bless you, Teresa.
MR LEE,
Ain’t you a bit of a comedient… he he he
left plus left for you is a right.. he he he
it appears on right hs of my screen, so your screen must be a mirror…
Anyway, it seems to me Teresa wont have time to post all the verses, but the blogsite is doing that automatically, I think ..
Thats Y it has a “click a scripture per day” button.
Anyway, I dont think her 40,000 voters are catholic, but multiracial, and they loyally voted her for how many years already????
That shows something aint it???
comedian? my thinking is
“if you can’t make a beautiful woman love you, at least make her laugh at you”
so it’s a bit of a habit now, granpa.
of the 40K, I am sure there are muslims, buddhists, christians, free thinkers, catholics, hindus, confused souls etc
haiyo u all u tink i care abt religion ka? imo politic & religion should not mix. ie. u can hv diff blog for diff things wat!! Politic ONE blog Religion ONE blog. If u all say im racist or bigot u all must be bodoh coz u all dont even know me….. bcum so sensitive over nothing. let me tell u a “funny” story….my BOSS (NOT MALAYSIAN) don’t like “M”, ask not to hire “M” bcos reason LAZY!!, my boss again ask me not to hire “I” bcos “I” like to FIGHT!! my boss again ask me 2 hire MORE “C” bcos “C” can work better!! but wat i did was hire 3Ms, 3Is & 2Cs….Tapi SabaFAN or Sarawakian i don’t hire bcos they are not M, I or C…..so am i racist again ka? u see ppl like to jump 2 conclusion. if i say bodoh 2u all again, IM pro BN ppl…..life aint easy la.
ohhhh by the way Peewee Tak, i really kerja for a credit card company la….i send u application want not!!hahaha
ur spelt my name wrongly so that’s not good salesmanship. 🙂
where did I say you ar racist or bigot?
I am asking you why you are against people celebrating their religion/beliefs without imposing it on other people without their consent?
Calm down, don’t be so emotional.
Back to you on the BTN issue. Please raise it again.

Hello,
I don’t know about all of you.. but I do want an MP who loves God and who has a heart to serve the ppl.. Teresa, I have no problem with you putting in your christian beliefs in your blog (i am a christian myself).. and I know that it is truly by the grace and strength of God that will enable you to perform your task as MP for both Seputeh and Puchong.. amen for that?
Why is it that other religions people can put their stuffs only, but if it’s anything to do with Christians God, people object strongly? I wonder why….?
Better a God fearing politician than a politically correct politician!
I’m happy that Teresa is not shy of her faith. I believe it’s that faith that able to keep up fighting for the people all these years! Add oil!!
