Selangor attracts RM134 mil in foreign investments

SHAH ALAM: Selangor has attracted RM134 million in investments for its 574.43 hectares Halal Hub in Pulau Indah Klang.

Selangor state executive councillor for Investments, Trade and Industries, Teresa Kok said the RM134 million was from 11 foreign investors.

She said Selangor considered the halal industry as a key sector to be promoted by the state government to foreign investors.

“Among the halal products welcome by the state are food and beverages, beauty and pharmaceutical products as well as products from raw materials.

“The state government established a Halal Hub to help the growth of the Selangor’s economy and make it effective and profitable,” said Teresa, the Kinrara state assemblywoman.

She was responding to Taman Templer assemblyman Subahan Kamal’s questions at the Selangor Assembly sitting yesterday.

Delivery system being improved

Teresa who is also Seputeh MP, said several concepts and new approaches have been prepared to to maintain Selangor as the country’s number one industrial state.

Among them she said was to ensure that each industry implement a transparent investor policy to ensure investor confidence.

She added that the state government also planned on preparing new and comfortable industrial areas such as the Selangor Science Park.

She added that the establishment of a district and state level investment committee would further help strengthen Selangor as the principle industrial state in the country.

“The state government is also improving its delivery system at all levels of the administration, including at local council levels.

“Participation and organising of investment missions abroad also gives an impetus to the state to achieve greater profits,” she said.
