Elections is around the corner but MCA Seputeh has not announced its candidate yet. Today I felt very cheesed off to read from Chinese papers metro section that a group of Salak South New Village people came out in a press conference with a few of them holding placards criticising me.
According to media report, this group of people faced eviction from DBKL. They sought help from Bennie Chin from MCA and Bennie managed to help them to delay their eviction until after Chinese New Year.
According to the news report from Sin Chew, the people who staged protest said they have sought help from me. They said they are the second batch of squatters that are facing eviction in Salak South New Village. The first batch was sent to PPR Muhibbah and many of them are not willing to go there. So they the second batch chose to seek help from Bennie Chin. Perhaps they thought that Bennie could help them to halt the eviction.
However, this group of people admitted they have never sought help from me, but they said I, as a wakil rakyat, should take initiative to know their problems and help them to resolve it.
I felt really mad to read such a statement from the squatters. If they have never sought help from me, how do I know their problem and offer my service to them? How can they hold placards to criticise me when they have never come to me?
I then called my members in Salak South New Village. They then told me that only few of those who attended the press conference were squatters who faced eviction. The rest of them were not squatters and they had nothing to do with this case. I was also told that few of them were residents of the T-Ratana Old Folks Home at Salak South New Village. I really got a shock hearing that!!
I then called a journalist from Chinese papers who told me media notice of that press conference was faxed by MCA to them. However, Bennie Chin later called their editor and said he would not be present in the press conference. Journalists told me that Bennie Chin was at the press conference that protest against me but he refused to comment.
My God, what dirty tactics have MCA played against me?? So, it was Bennie Chin and his gang that arranged the press conference and it is them who instigated the people to protest against me. And when they didn’t get enough people, they even recruited old men from the old folks home to make up the numbers. Ley kow chor mo ar? (Have you made a blunder)
Isn’t this below the belt tactic and stuff the political gutter is made of?
My office has not only full-time staff but also a number of volunteers. My door is always open to whoever come to seek help from me. I’ve never turned down people who sought help from me, except in issues that I can’t help or is not in a position to help.
In the past, whenever I handled squatters’ problems, MCA will always step in and take all these people away from me. Many squatters thought that they might get better assistance or extra goodies from MCA if they seek help from MCA cos they are in the government, but these squatters failed to know that both he and I are doing the same thing. MCA can’t offer anything extra.
Whenever the squatters chose to seek help from MCA, I always respect their choice and I won’t blame the people or ask the people to hold placards against the MCA, because this is the choice of the people.
In the case of eviction of Salak South New Village squatters’ case, Bennie just managed to help them to delay the eviction till after Chinese New Year only, and not reverse the decision of DBKL to evict them. What is there to shout about?
I told the press, “Zero Squatters” is the policy set by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government who is also the President of MCA, Ong Ka Ting. What Bennie Chin should do is to ask his party President to reconsider the ‘zero squatters’ policy, and not to instigate squatters to protest against me. I am not the Datuk Bandar, nor a city councillor, why blame me? The squatters should hold placards outside Ong Ka Ting’s office to protest against him for formulating such policy that made them suffer. Heng tai, ley kam mo? (Bro, do you dare)
Lastly, I should say I pity Bennie Chin. He is fighting very hard to be a MCA candidate to stand in Seputeh Parliamentary seat again. In the case of 4 1/2 mile Old Klang Road and this Salak South New Village case, we see MCA people and supporters holding placards that criticise me. This tactics show that Bennie is fighting for his survival in MCA politics. His desparation reflected in his series of below belt politics and dirty tactics recently.
As I want to urge him to stop using such dirty tactics to mislead the constituents and learn to be gentleman and practise clean politics, I also wish to tell him that I am not afraid of his dirty tactics. I believe that people have eyes to see. I have tried my best to serve the people.
I welcome him to challenge me again in the coming general elections. Be there, or be square! 🙂
