Seminar on Services Liberalization & Global Economic Slowdown

The standing committee of investment, trade & industry will be organizing a half a day seminar on liberalization of Malaysian professional services & global economic slowdown as follows:-

Date : 18 June 2009 (Thursday)

The main objective of the seminar is to brief on the shifting paradigm of globalization, liberalization, deregulation and the current mood for more regulations & controls (especially the financial/Wall-street sector) which could slide into protectionism and such global trends will have strong impact on our economy.

The speakers for this seminar:

1. Mr Ir Rocky Wong, Chairman – Institution of Engineers, Malaysia

He graduated as an electrical engineer from the University of Malaya in 1965 and served some 16 years with the National Electrical Board (NEB)~ forerunner to TNB ; before resigning to venture into the Private Sector as a Consulting Engineer in 1980. He is associated with the Electricity Supply Industry for the past 45 years. He experience in the environmental, power and energy engineering sectors; among the many other aspects. He as a resource person and /or a volunteer, continues to serve the following government agencies, civil society organizations (CSO’s) and non-governmental organizations (NGO’s).

 

2. Pn. Jauriah A. Ghani, Director of MIDA Selangor

She has been with MIDA for more than 25 years and attached to Industry Support Division and Communications and Media Division and various industries division, including Electrical and Electronics, Minerals and Paper industries. Currently assume the role as the Director of MIDA Selangor since September 2007 mainly to facilitate companies in the implementation and operation of their projects in Selangor, besides coordinating among agencies and institutions related to industrial developments in Selangor.

Teresa Kok (郭素沁) is Seputeh's MP and DAP Vice-chairman. Born and bred in Kuala Lumpur, Teresa is a second-generation Malaysian of Chinese descent. n the 2008-2013 term she was Selangor Senior State Executive Councillor for Investment, Industry and Trade and State Assemblyperson for Kinrara.
