Durian Gathering In My House

Posted on Wednesday, 20-05-2009Wednesday, 20-05-2009 by Teresa

Lim Guan Eng shares his thoughts with the ADUN and MPs in my house

Last weekend our Sarawak comrades came to KL to attend the party leadership retreat.

Wong Ho Leng, our DAP Sarawak Chairman cum state assemblyman for Sibu wanted to eat durian as this is what he normally does when he comes to Penisular Malaysia. So, after the long meeting, I invited those durian eaters to come to my house to have a feast. :-).

I don’t plant durian trees in my house, I have to ask a party member to look for good durians and carry to my house to serve all these VIPs. The good thing for them to eat durian in my house and not at road side is that they can watch TV and enjoy air-con in my house. The bad thing is, my house is full of durian smell and I have to open window and door plus switch on the fan after they left.

We chat about politics in Sarawak and party programme. As usual, Lim Guan Eng talked most la. I said the night is the night of future Chief Minister of Sarawak in making. Who else? Of course Wong Ho Leng la.

Haiyah, March 8th 2008 general elections, it seems that everything is possible in Malaysian politics. We need to dare to dream. Who will expect a convict like Lim Guan Eng who has been handcuffed and stayed in prison for a year can be the most powerful man in Penang now?

Ya, let’s eat durian, let’s dream and let’s work hard!! :-))

From left (sitting): YB Chong Chien Jen, YB Wong Ho Leng, YB Violet Yong, YAB Lim Guan Eng
Standing from left: YB Liew Chin Tong, YB Teo Nie Ching, ME, Ms Lim (DAP HQ accounts section head), Wong Mei Yun (YB Ngeh Koo Ham’s PA)

Wow, what a fragrant durian gathering for all your DAP colleagues (especially those law-makers from Sarawak) in your condo. YAB Lim was really in jolly good mood, not like those days when he was undeservedly and undemocratically forced to squat in Kamunting, that God forsaken place.

YB Teresa, what a nice and cosy condo you have to live and relax. You deserve all that you have worked for!

As many would lead to believe, politics is both the art of the possible and also the impossible. Impossible dreams can come true!

If our brothers and sisters in Sarawak decide to go for a political change in the state government in the next state elections, is it any wonder YB Wong Ho Leng, present Sarawak DAP Chairman and ADUN for Sibu, becoming the state’s future Ketua Menteri if Pakatan Rakyat comes to power with DAP Sarawak in the forefront of the takeover. Have guts and determination to go for it!

All you YBs, watch your diet and consumption of the ever appetising ‘king of the fruits’. The durian fruit is reportedly full of cholesterol. Those having high-blood pressure should take note of their intake of the fruit! All the best, haha!

Happy to see all of you enjoying a relaxed moment. There could be fresh state elections in Perak soon, and my conservative estimate is PR can win more than 2/3 of the 59 DUN seats. Important is not to fall into complacency.
Of all the nine people in the photo, I have seen Guan Eng in the flesh once during the 308 GE campaign. Little did I realize that he would be sworn in as our 4th CM within a week.
