I went to the Ministry of Primary Industries office after attending the swearing in ceremony in palace today. I arrived at 3pm.
My deputy Shamsul Iskandar joined me in the welcoming ceremony and briefing by the Ministry.
All the heads of departments and boards attended the meeting with Shamsul and me. I told them the importance for us to bring investment to develop the downstream industries of our natural resources such as palm oil, rubber, timber and others.
The secretary-general of the ministry Datuk Zurinah Pawanteh told me that she was surprised to see so many of the civil servants came out to greet Shamsul and me today.
I look forward to work together with the ministry’s officers and the stake holders in the coming months.

Dear YB, congratulations! Would be interesting to see whether the Ministry can establish a futures market for rubber via Bursa Malaysia Derivatives. Perhaps this would enable stakeholders to manage their risk in hedging the price of rubber via rubber futures contracts, similar to what is being done in our benchmark Palm Oil futures. Cheers.
