AMANAH Selangor wants to field Amanah president Mohamad Sabu in one of the seats in the state.
Its state chief Izham Hashim said in his opening speech at the Amanah Selangor convention that they would put forward Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, as a candidate.
“Amanah Selangor is very serious in this. We want Mat Sabu to contest here,” said Izham.
In response, Mat Sabu said he would first discuss it with national party leaders.
“It is a suggestion by Selangor. We will discuss it at the national level,” said Mat Sabu adding that Selangor is not the only state that suggested to field him.
However he did not reveal which are the other states.
Izham said the party has its own mechanism in proposing candidates.
“In Selangor, we are putting forward three names for each seat. We are putting his name.
“After all Mat Sabu also lives in Selangor,” said Izham.
Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua also threw in his support for Mat Sabu.
“I welcome him to Selangor,” he said when met at the sidelines of the Amanah Selangor convention this morning.
Izham also announced that Amanah Selangor will field its party vice-president Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus, communications chief and Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, strategic director Dzulkefly Ahmad, women chief and Kota Raja MP Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, Sepang MP Hanipa Maidin, Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib and Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin. – September 10, 2017.
