Yesterday afternoon at about 2.15pm, when I was about to enter the exco meeting room on the 20th floor, a man suddenly came up to me and told me that Ronnie Liu had been arrested by the police at the ground floor.
He asked me to inform the Menteri Besar. I then went into the meeting room and told MB and all exco members about this. Then all of us took the lift down to the ground floor, hoping that we could see Ronnie and talk to the police officers.
When we went down, we were told by the officers that Ronnie had been taken away by the police. The guards at our state government building told us that they were unable to stop the police from taking Ronnie Liu away.
Our state legal advisor Dato’ Jauyah then called the Prosecution Head of Shah Alam to find out where Ronnie will be taken to. I then called and sent text messages to Gobind Singh and other party colleagues about his arrest.
We then received confirmation that Ronnie had been taken to the Puchong Jaya police station and was waiting to be bailed out. We then summoned the YDP of MPSJ to brief the exco on what caused Ronnie Liu’s arrest. Our exco meeting was quite disrupted by this sudden change of events.
Ronnie came back to the exco meeting room at about 5pm and the YDP and enforcement officers of MPSJ gave us presentation on what had taken place when they raided a hotel in Puchong in October last year. They told us that a police report was lodged by an MPSJ officer against Ronnie Liu, but they never expected the police take such sudden action against Ronnie Liu, who is their ‘boss’ now.
The question now is why did the police take such firm action against Ronnie Liu over such a small matter? As Ronnie is now an exco member of the state government, the police could have called him or write to him to request his presence at the police station and record his statement. Did they need to take such drastic action against him by sending a few police officers to take him away, virtually “kidnapping” him?
Before this episode, Ronnie was arrested by the police when he went in to the PJ Police Station to visit participants of the Bersih vigil last Sunday who had been detained by the police.
To me, this is a clear indication that PDRM is working hand in glove with Umno to harass leaders of Pakatan Rakyat.
First, they put me under the ISA over unfounded remarks made by Khir Toyo in his blog as well as the articles published in Utusan Malaysia. They then acted against Ronnie Liu after Khir Toyo raised the case of Ronnie obstructing the raid carried out by MPSJ officers” in the recent Selangor State Assembly sitting. Besides, they also arrested our PJ DAP ADUN without prior warning for participating in a peaceful vigil to mark the first anniversary of the BERSIH march to demand free and fair elections.
Which Pakatan Rakyat leader will be their next target?

Ronnie Liu arrested, to face charge of obstruction
By : Fadhal A Ghani
SUBANG JAYA: Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu was arrested at the State Secretariat building in Shah Alam yesterday evening.
He now faces a court date on Monday, for allegedly obstructing Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) enforcement officers from carrying out their duties during an anti-vice raid at a hotel in Puchong last year.
Liu, the Local Government, Research and Development Committee chairman, was arrested at 2pm at the building entrance.
After his arrest by several plainclothes and uniformed policemen, the Pandamaran state assemblyman was driven to the Bandar Puchong Jaya police station.
However, he was released after his brother posted bail of RM2,000 at 3.15pm.
Asked why Liu had to be arrested, Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said a warrant of arrest was issued and as such, police had to perform their duty. “We arrested him, but offered him bail. This is the legal process.”
On why Liu was arrested only yesterday when the alleged incident happened last year, Khalid said the investigation process took time as statements had to be recorded and other procedures complied with.
“When the investigation paper was completed it was forwarded to deputy public prosecutor before it was returned to the police.
“Then only could the police proceed with further action.”
Khalid dismissed Liu’s claim that the arrest was politically motivated

S’gor exco man arrested, out on bail
Nov 12, 08 3:05pm
Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu was arrested at the state secretariat building in Shah Alam this afternoon.
MCPXThe DAP state assemblyperson for Pandamaran was detained by several plainclothes and uniformed policemen at the entrance of the building at around 2pm.
Liu, who was on his way to attend the weekly state cabinet meeting, was later taken to the Puchong police station.
Contacted later, Liu said he was arrested in connection with a report filed against him for allegedly obstructing Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) enforcement officers from carrying out their duties during an anti-vice raid on a hotel in Puchong last year.
“The police did not explain to me clearly (the reason for my arrest),” he said, adding that they had acted ‘rudely’ towards him.
Liu said that he did not resist being arrest as the police had an arrest warrant for him.
He was later released on a personal bond of RM2,000 – with his elder brother as a guarantor – at about 3.15pm.
He has been asked to appear at the PJ magistrate’s court on Monday where he is expected to be charged.
“I am not worried about appearing in court as I am innocent,” he said. He was back at the state secretariat building in the evening to attend some meetings.
Selangor police chief Khalid Abdu Bakar also confirmed to the media that Liu would be charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code with obstructing public servants from discharging their duty.
The offence is punishable with a jail term of up to three months, or a maximum fine of RM1,000 or both.
Suit against Khir
The controversy over Liu’s alleged role in the hotel raid cropped up after it was revealed by former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo six months ago.
Following this, Liu filed a defamation suit against Khir, who is now the opposition leader in the Selangor state assembly.
In the suit, which was filed on Oct 5, Liu claimed that Khir had defamed him by describing him as immoral and being involved in vice activities
Khir had in May accused Liu of obstructing the raid and therefore argued that the DAP leader was not fit to be in charge of the state’s local government.
Liu had denied the allegation.
These “efficient” bums again. How they time their arrest of Ronnie is astonishing.
Again, this is another proof that these so called law enforcement bums are working with those racialistis greedy politicians in Umno to try and harass an opposition.
However, the problem is they do not know that they have display their true colors to the rakyat. Dirty, arrogant, downright stupidity and racist.
What happen to the reports against our PM, DPM, Utusan melayu, etc…..made by the rakyat???
Another double, ooops… sorry triple standards by our law enforcement bums. Really amazing!!!
It’s sickening to read day after day about police abuse of power. It’s so blatant and every person can see they are enforcing ‘their’ law as they please. And UMNO is accorded immunity.
Our police deserve to be called the ‘pariahs’ of Malaysia. Or call them ‘lepers’.
They are animals without a heart and a soul.
An absolute & irrefutable proof that they are working hand in glove. Double standards? This one goes beyond double standards! This is pure sickening & disgusting form of discrimination intending to punish the voters for choosing other than BN in the last election.
I suggest the Selangor govt take drastic action to control this negative moves before it gets out of hand. Please check who is in charge of appointing the CPO and whether the state govt have any jurisdiction or authority to order the CPO NOT to go overboard…or replace him.
Just my two cents worth.
Will Khir Toyo be hauled up for instigating the Malays? Will he be charged in court? Nope! I dare say that because he is from UMNO, he has immunity. I’ll eat my chocolate covered tofu if that ever happens!
We all think that UMNO is the only big ‘bully’ among the BN component parties. Following in UMNO’s footsteps and doing the same stance as a bully are our ‘men-in-blue’ from PDRM. Of late and very recently, these so-called ‘law enforcers’ are carrying out their duties very biasedly and acted very rough-handedly towards the opposition, non-BN political parties and their members. The fracas in last Sunday’s candlelight vigil in Petaling Jaya which led to the the arrest of Parliamentarian Tony Pua and two Selangor state assemblymen, one of whom is a state ex-co and Wednesday’s arrest of the same state ex-co in the person of YB Ronnie Liu at his Shah Alam office left much to be desired and should be condemned down-right! Why dish out such rough tactics and disrespectful shown to these YBs and elected representatives over small and trifle matters just because they are in the opposition? We know they have a job to do but then they should act professionally and be neutral in carrying out their duties at all times and give due respect to these law-makers who will be their masters one day! Think of it!
Remember, PR controls and governs five states in the country. In these states they are the government and not the opposition. Who then are their masters?
YB,
Not only PDRM with UMNO link. Most of the government agencies are connected to UMNO.
The fact is some head of department are not fit to be at their position if not for the hidden link. That is why we have mediocre running an organization and forever Malaysia will not progress.
Please make a head count as to how many non malay become head of department especially those strategic positions. Look at the police force and the Armed Forces. The UMNO linked leadership can give all sort of excuses but their head swirling with the narrow concept of ketuanan melayu. This has got to change now or never. Are the non malays not loyal to this country? I am a malay but this must stop and I don’t know, surely Pakatan Rakyat has the way, for the betterment of the nation.
Enough is enough and BTN must go away, promotion base on race has to stop.
My word of caution do it properly as the mindset is so deep rooted. If Pakatan can’t do it then nobody else. Watch out people who loves playing racial card and all the BN goons. At least some changes should take place in all the Pakatan states. Good luck.
Unprofessional people definitely will breed unprofessional assailant in law and enforcement government.
The Bersih peaceful and patrioting gathering was mean to instill harmonious cultural integration in the public and nation, but the question why the police came in? By right the police should be on the fence not supporting any fraction of political agenda and direction. They act as an own in up keeping law and order.
From what has show in the peaceful and vigilant gathering it shows that the police try to muscle it authority enlighten to rule over the Malaysia people and citizen with full of Draconian, Tyranny and Autocratic of ruling where the democratic principle act as only behind the mind of every police personnel’s.
We believe that that the Police and the FRU now are being corrupted by the autocratic and dilution of the respect even to the King and National National anthem. I bet when the King knew about that the Royalty will just continue to be silent or acted as a dead symbol. What did the Royalty feedback about this issue? The answer is did the Royalty dare to challenge their right to fight for the freedom and woes of the nation or continue to hold their tongue to continuing enjoying the silence of their privileges and rights to the benefits and offering by the government administration.
It was a vain testimony that the head did not know about this matters. As this is a huge operation and the risk of the catchment and approval on such a go ahead must be vested by the head of the department ultimately to the very sight of the Home Minister Department. We believe this is a move mooted to revenge against the people over the recent release of Raja Petra Kamaruddin on ISA detention. This is a follow up by the Police force or perhaps the one that control the force that they are still in the control and may destroy the intend of the people thru military and police force.
Somebody have to be holding accountable for this matters. Who will the person be I wonder? Syed Hamid? Or Najib?
Perhaps the Police Force must evolve in their perspective of democratic rights. We Malaysia people are not people like in the other nations: Indian, Korean, French and Iraq people that condone to street violence and aggression.
I know that similar vigilant do happened in the States before on peopleful matters. What did the US Police force do? They just steadfast guiding the people demonstration until it finishes nobody get hurt as a result. The publics hold their frustration thru outlet mean of peace. The Police only stand by their watch until the show is over. This is what I call democratic perspective.
So by beating, chasing and indulge in heavy abusive both physical and utterance, what can the Police achieve at the end of the day? I believe this will cause remorse of such an incidence people will still march out in peace to show that beside the peaceful walk there is an evil Goliath try to challenge the dignity of a peaceful nations and harmonious integration of this glorious Malaysia.
That why the people are frustrated, disappointed and angry with such as brutality that many times the police act as a “human feeling” in nature rather than a “professional” practice in actual. They forgot that they are public service department generated by the voters to guide their security and peace but not view this “peace candle vigilant” as a mean to get back to the people. Oh! How they forget the very being of their existence and the main cause of their formation and objective of the Royal Police Force.
Somebody cry out that their duty is to follows order. I remember a show at the Astro on FBI Sniper. An incidence recorder by the Sniper. He was glad that he did not took the shot at the criminal assailant because it turn out that the circumstances turn out may not be as per instruction to shot and kill. So he hold back using his own compassion and wisdom toward a certain situation.
We believe the Police should just park their men at a distance watching such a peaceful and harmonious belongings showing gratefulness and thankfulness both to God that have delivered those fighter like RPK and others ISA detainees out from their adversary. What the adversary does is to further instill evil to succumb people to bondage such as Police brutality, suppressing of human and peaceful right and the right of gathering without fear and remorse. This is a translation of the freedom mean in democracy rights and privileges, with no intend of harm and disturbance of peace in the intended land and intervention of human boundaries.
We truly rest my passion for the “Bangsa Malaysia” resolution!
Definitely. The Malaysian police force can claimed the title as “the world’s most disgraceful law enforcement agency” and they are only interested to serve their UMNO masters.
Their actions are very much left to be desired and there is no honor left in them wearing the “DiRaja” uniforms.
Like me, I guess most Malaysians have completely lost faith in the police force.
No integrity, no honor, no shame.
CORRECTED VERSION:
They need justification to fight Ronnie’s libel suit.
If it is shown that Ronnie defended a brothel during an enforcement raid, than there is purported proof that he is involved in vice
activities or on the take to protect the vice racket.
The allegation that he is involved in vice activities will provide the fair comment and public or civic justification against the libel suit he filed against those who made the
allegation.
That is why, action is suddenly taken, a year after the raid.
If, as is said by the police officer in charge, that they need such a long time to investigate and build a case against Ronnie before acting, then something is certainly not very right with our police force.
A month, let alone a year, to conduct and conclude such an investigation is already too much. This shows how efficient our police force is.
while the PDRM is busying tending to Pakatan Reps and national anthem singers, we have rapists, murderers, mat rempits, robbers roaming around.
wonder my tax money is worth it
the day PDRM showed force to take DSAI into Daing Wangi station, yours truly was robbed on his way home. The officer at the station told me that many of his mates been summoned to town centre hence patrol that day was comparatively lax
at least those robbers follow the news
Which Pakatan Rakyat leaders will be their next target?
To be precise, it’s “Which DAP leaders will be their next target?”…
My gut feeling is, they are harassing the DAP leaders to fan something…~~
Nonethelesss, Ronnie Liu’s track record wasn’t clean to start with anyway~
DON’T USE WRONG TACTICS
Those who don’t feel politically secure are always ‘sadistic’
Thinking that weakening of their opponents will be the best tactic
When sometimes they don’t take into account the known statistics
Forgetting that they must never deviate from the established basics
