KUALA LUMPUR: Jamal Yunos today brought a cardboard representation of PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli to the Umno general assembly to remind party members of Rafizi’s treachery.

The Sungai Besar Umno division chief said it was Rafizi’s slanderous accusations that had caused Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to resign as minister in the Prime Minister’s Office.

“We want to remember Rafizi’s history (with Umno).

“I do this so that Umno members will remember what he has done. Although he has been sentenced (in court for sedition), the effects of his actions will never be forgotten,” Jamal told reporters at the Putra World Trade Center today.

Jamal said Rafizi’s accusations had a lasting effect among the party ranks and there were many members who even now still believed in the PKR leader.

“Rafizi also said the prime minister’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, had bought a ring worth RM24 million.

“But when Rosmah wished to sue him, he said he was only joking. So I would like to tell Umno that the man is a slanderer,” Jamal said.

Jamal next called the death threat to Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah “an act”.

“It is just an act to garner public sympathy.

“Let the police investigate. I am certain the police will get those who have ill intentions towards her. But it (the reported death threat) is just to draw public sympathy.”

Maria yesterday said she had received a threatening note with a live bullet enclosed. The note read “Last Warning, If Not R.I.P Marina & Family” and was delivered to her house.

The note is is believed to have been delivered on Nov 18, the eve of the Bersih 5 rally and day of Maria’s arrest.

Jamal said Maria was forced to use such tactics after failing to draw people to the Bersih 5 rally.

“Maria Chin is only influential to her followers. She will create issues just to cover her failure.”
