PETALING JAYA: PAS Youth Chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz has criticised the Opposition for the mass walkout this evening during Prime Minister Najib Razak’s presentation of Budget 2017.
In a Facebook post, the Pasir Mas MP and son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat said no MP had the “right to disrupt his important speech, even if the Opposition has its criticisms”.
“The Budget presentation is a big day for the country and its people. It is a special day and time for the prime minister to speak on the Budget.
Nik Abduh urged his fellow MPs to speak on and debate the budget later, without “unprofessional acts that only end up wasting the other MPs’ time”.
According to a report by Malaysiakini, PAS Information Chief and Temerloh MP Nasrudin Hassan, commenting on the walkabout, said the party took a different approach.
“There are some (parts of the Budget) which we do not agree with. But our way is to give views and debate intellectually.
“There are some things which are good for the rakyat and the country in this Budget.
“The House rules state that if we do not agree with the Budget, we can choose to vote against it.”
