SUNGAI BESAR: DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang has made an open invitation to PAS Sungai Besar by-election candidate Dr Abdul Rani Othman to leave his party and join one of Pakatan Harapan’s parties to effectively fight against Barisan Nasional.
He said Rani should also quit from the by-election as a sign that he was fighting against Umno and find a more suitable platform to fight against Putrajaya’s injustices.
“He should forfeit ( the Sungai Besar by-election) to fight against injustice at Putrajaya. He is a good guy but the party is not good. He will be accepted by PKR and Amanah. Even if he wants to join DAP, we will absolutely accept him,” he told an audience at a ceramah near Restaurant Kuala Kurau here last night.
Rani attended an event together with Amanah candidate Azhar Abdul Shukur and Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali earlier yesterday.
At the event, Azmin openly supported Azhar and also wished Rani, who is his ally in the Selangor state assembly, best of luck. Rani is the Meru state assemblyman.
Sources from DAP confirmed that they had approached Rani to offer him to join the party, but there has been no response from the PAS candidate.
Meanwhile, PAS will be having a press conference later today about the issue. The party was said to be “dismayed” by Rani attending the Pakatan event.
However, a statement from the Islamist Party’s Dewan Ulama late last night denied that they were having a meeting to discuss Rani’s action.
