BALIK PULAU: The Special Affairs Department (Jasa) today described the allegation against Prime Minister Najib Razak reported in The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) as an international conspiracy to topple the government.
Jasa director-general Mohd Puad Zarkashi said that previously it was insiders that attacked the government until after the arrest of a former employee of PetroSaudi International Ltd, where it had been unveiled that certain quarters had falsified documents to malign the government.
He said the attacks on government leaders had now changed to attacks from outside the country via the international mass media.
“I hope the prime minister will expedite the legal action against WSJ,” he told reporters before launching a Jasa programme in Sungai Batu, Teluk Kumbar, Balik Pulau, here.
Mohd Puad said this when he was asked to comment on the reported allegation in the WSJ that funds from the government investment company 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) had been channelled to Najib’s personal accounts.
The Umno Supreme Council said Najib should expedite the suit against the WSJ because the allegation had an adverse effect not only on his leadership but also on the stability and security of the country.
