With some PAS leaders demanding that the party cuts ties with DAP, one of its Kelantan MPs reminded them that their estranged coalition partner has done much to rebuild areas of the state devastated by floods last December.
“DAP built new homes and they repaired the Kuala Krai market which was levelled in the floods,” said Kuala Krai MP Dr Hatta Ramli when listing some of the DAP projects under its Impian Kelantan initiative.
“They also bought five acres of land to help victims start new businesses so that they could get back on their feet and for new houses,” said Hatta at the 61st muktamar in Kuala Selangor today.
When the party’s Muslim scholars wing brought a motion to sever ties with PAS on Wednesday, Hatta said he had asked his counterparts in DAP whether this would affect the Kelantan projects.
“They said no. These projects are humanitarian. If it was a question of them feeling hurt (by the motion), they could have done anything. But they said even in politics there must be limits.
“Of all the parties, it was DAP that helped us. So take care when you put these motions across, it could ruin everything.”
Hatta also said he had cooperated fully with an internal probe on claims he had led a campaign to oust PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
He said the case was closed after his accusers did not show up at the party’s hearings on the accusations.
In March, Dr Hatta was accused of leading a coup against Hadi by members of Pahang PAS Youth who staged a demonstration in front of the party’s headquarters. – June 6, 2015.
