First Lady of Controversy

Posted on Tuesday, 07-10-2008 by Teresa Media

By Frankie D'Cru, Malay Mail, Oct 6.

Sassy MP Teresa Kok may be Ms Congeniality, but she is also the First Lady of Controversy.

Her amiability aside, she has had to endure the abysmal temperament of racial politics regularly, far more than most politicians.

There are those who malign her as a Chinese dogmatist and anti-Muslim, while her supporters proclaim her as a heroine who has been slighted.

This is one lady who has been through wretchedness and is still being castigated, the latest last Saturday, when her picture was cut up in one of the 46 Hari Raya banners she put up in Puchong.

Another picture of Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo was left intact.

So, what’s with this Kok bashing?

"Certain quarters are saying I am pulling the strings in the Selangor government and that the Menteri Besar is just a puppet," the three-term DAP MP for Seputeh told Malay Mail yesterday.

"They say I am in control by virtue of my position as a senior State executive councillor.

"They say the Chinese and the DAP are in control of Selangor and not the Pakatan Rakyat government," said Kok, who is also the State Assemblyman for Kinrara.

"This could be why I am being targeted but I am not about to stop what I have been doing," said Kok who won her parliamentary seat with a 36,492-vote majority — the biggest — in the March general election.

There is also babble that certain quarters are not happy with her being able to connect with Malays.

Other DAP leaders have also reportedly been successful in such an endeavour.

Kok’s friends say these mischief-makers are instigating the people to hit out at her in the hope of bringing her down while her critics maintain she is a chauvinist and an enemy of Islam.

Former de facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, who recently quit the Cabinet partly in protest against the use of the Internal Security Act (ISA), had said: "I know Teresa personally and I cannot see her as anti-Islam."

When Kok was detained under the ISA, many reportedly viewed her arrest and that of a Sin Chew Daily journalist as unwarranted.

She is said to have had the support of her political opponents even, including those from the ruling Barisan Nasional.

With most media people, she’s a darling and that would explain the standing ovation she got from reporters at a media conference hours after her release on Sept 19.

Teresa, you do not get your a big majority win for your Parliamentary seat just doing nothing. You have proven your worth. Ignore these worms, they only creep out in the darkness of the night from their slimy holes, to distract your ability to deliver the needs to the rakyat. So to hell with them.
These racist cowards have nothing in their hollow heads…only think of despicable acts. This is the old Malaysia of UMNO but, the nation has advanced to a new era, they will soon be history.

Perhaps certain quarters, populations, races and even elites may not be able to accept that they have actually lost in that category of the democratic parliament by votes. With that dreams in mind living in their old glorious days of strength, power and might, they have not actually broken out of their dreams, far most coming out to reality.

Many do tend to succumb to their old happiness in life. Whether the application is toward our own personal daily living, career or political battle. I believe the centurion in us always like to reside in the glorious battle that we have dominion unto.

We MUST accept the fact that the opposition coalition has WON and pursue to live the life of lost. If may take the lost as a temperament but as a ways of looking into the reflection of oneself, groups, policies or even to extend the personality and strategy that way devise to gain self pride back to the arena.

By waking up and accepting our failure to the people and admit with conviction that the government management has corrode and misdirect that has causes of all the commotions of finger pointing and blaming toward each others. We MUST also agree that we are MALAYSIAN, breed, born and share this precious country dignity amongst ourselves despite we comes from various ethnicity and cultural differences.

So STOP the condemnation that we brought to ourselves and together each and every person keep focusing on our daily affairs that persist us to build our nation stronger. In the affairs of patriotism, build of a “Bangsa Malaysia” looking into our daily chaos as not to let our money flow to other country lest bringing out our wealth of the nation to others.

If current government cannot manage the proposition of the development of the country, we in totality of the population even to those in rebellious to convert to changes; please DO GIVE the OPPORTUNITY for the opposition party an “opportunity to practice what they preaches”. Our tongue is like a fiery flame if we lost control of it will consume the blessing out of it which to the extent blazes our own damnation of our own wealth, peace and joy within our soul, family and nation.
So to those who in current revolution against the opposition party why not give them a break to do what they MUST do to bring back once more the pride of the nation, overturn the fraction of the poverty in more fulfilling manner, getting rid of all the unrighteousness with the force. The majorities of the support that they gainer in the respective states that they have achieved.

We the nations as in one pledge that certain fraction of the public’s opposition body be assimilate one more time to the public’s majority as ONE for us to see SUCCESS in unity.

May Allah have MERCY on us!

Theresa Kok and people like her who hold public office should always seek proper counsel on the subject of precision in preparation of their public statements in order to avoid embarrassment to themselves and to the outcomes they like her so desperately now seeks to avoid.

If these statements attributed to her in her press release were prepared or approved by her for publication and if I were a constituent of hers, I would have grave reservations about her ability to communicate my needs as a constituent to the legislature.

This is, judging from her very poor ability to express herself properly in the language of her choice, English. She speaks English (if that’s not stretching the imagination too far) but clearly thinks in Chinese and not even Bahasa.

Perhaps this is why she chooses the Chinese characters so provocatively displayed often on her website, from which any polemic is excised and diversity of thought discouraged. A totalitarian mindset in skirts and make up? Democracy? Freedom of expression ? I think not.

Theresa Kok is her own biggest enemy. By implication of what she says in her press release and public comments (assuming what’s attributed to her as being her statements here is correct), she patronisingly seeks to impugn unlawful or unfair conduct on the part of the police in their investigation of complaints and allegations made against her and her activities.

There is a wide discretion of powers given to the police not only in Malaysia but in many common law countries of the world to exercise in the course of their investigations. The police do not have to ask a suspect the types of questions the suspect would prefer them to ask. Which planet does this woman live on?

The ISA is no ordinary piece of legislation and police questioning is not designed to assist the suspect conceal what they seek to elicit from them. That does not even occur during a non ISA instituted course of interrogation or questioning by police anywhere.

Whether or not one likes the ISA, it remains on the statute books and a personal revulsion to the Act is insignificant to its application or its existence until such revulsion manifests itself in a change of legislation.

As an example there is universal opposition to the death penalty. I would have assumed that such a truly draconian sanction in penalty would have been a priority issue for a self confessed practicing Catholic and Chinese chauvinist MP to pursue.

It is after all an issue concerned with the preservation of human life which doctrinally is paramount to everything in Catholicism. And forgiveness a close second relative. And further statistically for good measure the Chinese remain the largest victims of the gallows in South East Asia. And even further still her priorities lie squarely with the Malaysian Chinese community!!

There is a different forum and process by which people are able to express their dissatisfaction or revulsion to the ISA. That process and forum was available for the public to act on in March 8 of 2008. The results of that event are self evident.

The ISA was not a policy issue then sufficient to change anything. With Theresa Kok’s incarceration under the Act it suddenly takes centre stage.

Who is Theresa Kok really acting for? her narcissistic self or her constituents who are narrowly aligned to her equally narrow non secular racially inspired ideologies? she has set herself up for her fall and now plays Mother Theresa or the little flower.

POLICE ACTION IN DETAINING HER AND THE ISA

Were the police acting in a high handed manner in their detention and interrogation of her? perhaps so. But were they breaking the law in doing so? I think not.

What Theresa Kok in her statement here speculates is, that in detaining her and in not conducting an investigation according to what she believes was the right way to go about it has rendered the police action against her unlawful and immoral.

Further it would appear from her statement, that she is inviting an inference that it was the Utusan Melayu’s publication on the offending subject that was the genesis of her problems. Pure speculation. Maybe an officer who interviewed her said so. But that’s a statement of the officer and not one of proof that UM was the complainant.

Her further attempts to widen the conflict by drawing on a statement by MP Ahmad Ismail of Bukit Benedera and turning it into a racist controversy worthy of the proverbial “charity” that would “cover her multitude of sins” against the Malays is pathetic.

I once more urge Theresa Kok to discover the meaning of the word racist and place it for her here to absorb.

“a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others.”

Ahmad Ismail’s comment in this regard at worst is perhaps a misstatement of fact or a statement misplaced in context. He referred to Chinese as squatters. I won’t go into that definition as it may hurt and lend unsolicited credibility to Ahmad’s statement.

THE TEST TO THERESA’S IDEOLOGY AND PURPOSE

    If Theresa was genuinely concerned about racism she would have worked earnestly with the backing of the empire of the Vatican to;
    (i) prevent Chinese exploitation and brutality against Phillipino and Indonesian maids in Malaysia (which statistically human rights orgnisations number ethnic Chinese families in Malaysia as being disproportionately bigger offenders than the other two races),
(ii) condemn and actively discouraged Raja Petra Kamaruddin from blaspheming against the prophet regardless of her different religion to his,
(iii) condemn his vile racist comments against Malays which by any definition is racist and a vilification of an entire race without any defense, justification or moral qualification.
(iv) campaign against Chinese exploitation of poor Indians who are the lowest paid employees in Chinese dominated organizations in Malaysia.
    (v) campaign against the scourge of Chinese triad societies and the brutal predatory Ah Longs
(vi) campaign against the scourge of prostitution ( a profession dominated by Chinese pimps and not only in Malaysia)
(vii) campaign against the Catholic churches abuse of orphans and other weaker persons within it
(viii) seek out and make public pedophiles and sexual predators within the Catholic church a matter that is universal within that organization.

    THERESA’S HYPCROSIY

Instead she calls for Raja Petra Kamaruddin’s release as if he were an innocent victim of justice gone wrong. A Martyr for her cause celebre, being the defamation and racial stereotyping of Malays and Muslims.

In this regard she may well be advised of a well hackneyed phrase applicable to people in her position: “You lie with dogs, Theresa, you get fleas”.

Her desperation in exploiting what Ahmad Ismail said and by her attempts at extrapolating his words into a specious argument about racism is just that. Desperation.

It beggars belief that someone in her position should cry foul whilst upholding the alley cat morality of one such as Raja Petra Kamaruddin. A man bereft of any morals and credibility attempting to hide behind a thin veneer of respectability by calling himself a journalist.

In the current political and communally charged environment it is people like Theresa Kok and Raja Petra Kamuruddin that lend credibility to the existence of the ISA and support its implementation as a tool to prevent a greater mischief being committed against the community at large.

Many Malaysians unfortunately tend to forget what occurred during the blood letting of May 13 1969. To many more of a younger generation May 13th is merely academic and a reference point to the extremities of communalism. That’s dangerous.

Theresa Kok and Raja Petra Kamaruddin are birds of a feather. Generous with the lives of others in their provocation, eccentricity and their attempts at pushing the envelop to tearing point in pursuit of personal gratification, public attention and adulation, a mistaken belief they are doing the community a service. It is populist adventurism in its most vile and dangerous form.

    CONCLUSION

    Well there may be those who admire such politically bankrupt exploitation of racial tension either willfully or negligently by covering it with the respectability of “democracy and freedom of speech”. They then draw on the indiscretions of their opponents to justify what they do. But no one is game enough to ask the question;

“when did the indiscretions of those you despise become your moral beacon to follow?”

Read the second point she raises in her media statement on release. If any of you could decipher the incomplete syntax of this woman please make it less cryptic and share its meaning with the rest of us. Additionally if one can adduce any proof of what she accuses the city council of doing in changing road signs also please comment.

If a member of Parliament who practices a religion with a historical and ideological intolerance of the beliefs of others as its credo and then espouses it on her website, eschews a common language that could reach all constituents, but instead uses Chinese characters and English and calls herself a democrat and a freedom lover, goes hell for leather against Malays and Muslims in her unbridled and contemptuous hatred for them, she deserves more than a mere locking up for 8 days in solitary.

Welcome to the world of partisan politics. Welcome to the world of non Catholics and welcome to diversity of opinion Theresa Kok.

The following may also be worth remembering Theresa.

There are no absolute democracies n this world. That’s a euphemism for anarchy. Your right to express your freedom ends at the tip of your neighbours nose

My Advice: If you can’t stand the heat. get out of the kitchen”.

Teresa, looks like your ability to make friends with the Malays are one of the reasons UMNO are creating problems for you.
That you can get along with them will take away one of their most potent weapons to brand you as a racist!
Every time they use this ploy, it will back fire on them!
    It makes them very frustrated.
However, you are on the right track – just carry on.

It will be some time before the Selangor BN can get used to being in the Opposition. Don’t worry, through the Internet and Mobile Phone even people in the rural interior know the true goings-on, let alone people in the urbanised Klang Valley. Many politicians seem behind times.

Teresa, despite you get the blessing from heaven the devil spoke by itself thru Archangel.

Consultation in Malaysian politics I think one has seen too many movies as in American political scenario which have many offices of counselor and advisor that is heavily paid just to support the prominent figure of success. In Malaysia the figure of success is to slot thru your own effort to gain people support and goes up in the political battle. This all this is done by yourself with a limited budget and donation.

A politician does not need to express herself to be eminent but rather to ensure the expression of the people and nation be heard by the government and goes into implementation in the parliament thus enacted as a legislation and laws.

Expression of the people in explanation is the 51% vote is as majority and 49% is the losing. Then one politician has to use a provocative general view of community in igniting the issues at large to meet as far as the most of the people in the populations. This is wisdom and not whether a person is express greater in Malay, English, Chinese or Indian and other languages. Unfortunately people in Malaysia are of multi language to some people they exert this irrelevant communication as an issue to reprimand to seizure attention.

The police overall has a commitment to the community as it is appointed by the nation. But yet the appointment has being abuse in the sense that the people lose it right in the representation as in the laws and legislation. Hence this has evoke a wide spread press attention and knowledge, which brought about the politicians to take the subject and woes and complaints of the people. This is to intercede or represent a group of subject to the head of the administration. At time politician may play the games but it will not be flare out if the newspaper man has not reported this incident. Then what happen is the authority abuse it responsible and authority and the press has not reported it out, then this is like a covering up and deflecting a deception to the nations or publics. In the democratic rule this is counter check and balance.

So the police have the power to intervene to public order with the authority vested by the people and representative that they appointed. That was not ground and reason for such an arrest by the police in Teresa without substantial prove and evidence, just by a mere hearsay and heresy of certain rumor mongers. This is purely a defamation to distort the heat of the adversary political situation to another game frontier. This the police have cross their line of integrity in propounding judgment for the arrest. This is therefore view as harassment, disrespect to any gender and race.

With all the commotion and press release by the freedom of press. We the people within the nation with much due respect would like to know what will the resultant of such as demonic action will generate into the future which indirectly has a course to our generation coming.

March 8 election was a proven but some are still hiding in the bush. The current governing coalition party will be further devastated if did not taken into consideration spoil votes, absence votes and paid votes, buying votes and etc. Thank God if it not because of shifting votes the head of the respective BN coalition will suffers more defeat. Those states taken by the opposition party is an enrich states that fill with many riches and goodness in it total major percentage economic representative value of contribution to the nation Malaysia.

The Devil has spoken thru archangel in convulsion by testing to play sentiment of Teresa racist and religion attempt to dilute the whole scenario of the human leadership and representation.

We know the world is no perfect and laws of the universe has thru the will of God has generate us to many of his will. We do not question man himself why I am created in that manner. Thus bringing judgment to ourselves and our race in general. We must ask ourselves what must be due to take up the leadership and aspect of moving into the arena of challenging and persecution. Whether it is Chinese brutality, exploitation, prostitution and Ah Long. We are Malaysian and we do not want the May 13 1969 to happen again. Do they nation really know what actually happening those days? Or just as in hearsay and vain listening of information assimilated. We can assure that moment is not extremist of communism. Kindly get the history right in research and light of books and commentary.

Why must we provocatively start with the word, “Chinese “in the verb of action rather than using the verb apply to general ethnic as a whole? Beware of many Archangel of Ahmad Ismail to stir up desertion in the nation that full of harmony and prosperity?

We the people of the Malaysia did not admire the statue of the politician but rather subject to the testimonial and responsibility of managing the economy and meeting people needs and wants. The representative will try it best to serve the public if were any hypocrisy how long can it be escape thru the watchful eyes and ear of the people. Take for example our current PM the people projected he will only serve one term.

The Opposition coalition has won and need time to prove their work and “what they preach will what they do”. Mean time any issues other than the benefit of the people, country and nation other thing that comes out from our mouth is evil.

Time has start ticking for the opposition coalition to prove to come out as victor…

    Archangel implied that,

Teresa speaks Chin-glish, unprofessional and played to the public gallery for sympathy. She also thinks like a chinawoman and a lover of chinese food and culture in a malay country. Therefore she is a racist probably because she announced the pig farm project in selangor after the recent election and showed roast pork in her website.

Aren’t all races free to practised their own cultures and religions in malaysia and they can be mandarin or tamil educated as there are schools that teach these languages. What’s ur problem Archangel? She is not good enough to represent u?
Getting the country highest majority win in her own “consti” is not good enough for u? Anyway
parliament uses BM to debate not English.

Well maybe ur criticism reflects on ur insecurity
as a malaysian indian that u possibly can’t read and write in ur own language that u lashes out at her? U may speak and write good Ind-glish but sadly u feel empty within. A person without a culture is souless and has a skewed outlook in life.
