16th DAP National Congress: something memorable to share with you

Today, 15th December 2012, is the 16th DAP National Congress. If you are interested to take a look at our congress today, please visit: www.tv.dapmalaysia.org.

This year, the congress is held at Penang International Sports Arena (PISA), it is a closed-door stadium. The location is chosen due to the increase of members, delegates and branches.

CEC members were on the stage to sing the DAP national anthem.

There are 2,576 delegates and 730 qualified branches so far. This is the highest record of the Congress. That’s why we need a bigger space to hold our national congress.

DAP’s Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng who is also the existing Penang Chief Minister was delivering his opening speech this morning as PISA, Penang.

In this congress, we put some gimmicks in the opening of the Congress, i.e. a Sarawakian dance, a Kadazan song, and showing of “Ghanam Rocket Style” MTV pre-recorded song.

Besides, we also insert a session where momentos were given to senior party members who have joined the party for 35 years. Of course, this include Karpal Singh, Dr Chen Man Hin, Lim Kit Siang etc.

I was casting my votes to support the candidates to be the next term national leaders of DAP. Guess who I have voted for? 🙂

It is really not easy to organize this congress. The success of this Congress depended greatly on the DAP HQ staffs, and the key people like: Lim Hui Ying, Foo Yueh Chuan, Pooi Weng Keong, Ooi Leng Hang etc. They have had many sleepless nights in preparing for the congress.

After the CEC members have casted votes, Hui Ying came into VIP rooms to give us some updates about the Congress. She said she has not taken breakfast nor lunch, she then leaned on her father Kit Siang’s legs and complaint how tired she was. Sigh! Pity her….. she deserves a momento, she has been one of the pillars of this Congress 🙂

This is first-time-ever child care unit set up by the organizing committees for DAP members’ children. The kids are enjoying themselves with new friends, with toys and TV programmes. We are proud with the new breakthrough!
