The Selangor State government urges the Selangor MCA Public Complaints Bureau to lodge a complaint to the Selangor Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) regarding the allegation they made about the purchase of 50 trash compactors.

“If MCA has any evidence of wrongdoing, they should immediately lodge a report with SELCAT. Failing this, MCA should cease any and all allegations which cannot be substantiated with solid evidence,” said Teresa Kok, Selangor Senior State Executive Councillor for Investment, Industry & Trade.
MCA Public Complaints Bureau chief Datuk Theng Book had previously made a number of allegations, but no firm evidence has been provided, and no complaints have been made with any authority or agency
“As a national political leader who aspires to contest in Bandar Tun Razak Parliment seat, Theng Book should show his credibility and stop spreading lies for cheap political publicity,” said Teresa Kok Suh Sim.
Teresa Kok, who is also the State Assemblyperson for Kinrara, also stated that MCA – as members of the ruling coalition – had lost all credibility in their criticism of the handling of the flood problem in Selangor as the federal government has reduced the amount of allocations for flood mitigation in the state.
Under the Eighth Malaysia Plan, the state received RM 112 million for flood mitigation from the government. In the Ninth Malaysia Plan the amount dropped to RM 60 million and in the Tenth Malaysia Plan, which was rolled out in 2010, the amount was dramatically reduced to RM 1.9 million.
These reduction in allocations could explain why massive floods occurred in Hulu Kelang and Klang recently. The allocations are necessary for projects like automated water gates and the construction of water retention ponds to mitigate the effects of flash floods.
Teresa Kok urged MCA to concentrate on playing their role in the federal government to ensure Selangor gets enough allocations for flood mitigation and to stop misleading the Selangor people with wrong information.
