Press statement by Teresa Kok, Selangor State Senior EXCO and Member of Parliament for Seputeh dated 6 December 2010 in Shah Alam
Khir Toyo should make public his income tax returns for past ten years
I welcome today’s news that ex-Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo has been charged under Section 165 of the Criminal Procedure Code for knowingly accepting a bribe, in form of two plots of land in Section 7, Shah Alam, for his mansion at a substantial discount from Ditamas Sdn Bhd director Shamsuddin Haryoni.
Khir Toyo is charged with accepting two land lots for RM3.5mil when the said lots were bought by Shamsuddin for almost twice the price at RM6.5mil.
Khir Toyo may have pleaded not guilty to this charge but nothing short of public disclosure of his income tax declaration could ever convince the public that this former-dentist-turned-Menteri-Besar could ever afford his lavish lifestyle, mansion, cars and other assets on his legitimate salary.
Therefore, I urge Khir Toyo to clear his name once and for all by making public his income tax returns past 10 years if he has the guts to do so.
While AG’s prosecution of Khir Toyo is commendable, it is curious that AG together with MACC has either refused or been unable to prosecute so many “big fish” who have got away scot-free despite there being obscene display of wealth beyond legitimate income as well as other evidence of graft.
I therefore urge the Attorney General and MACC to immediately investigate and prosecute:
1) Tiong King Sing for his involvement in the mismanagement of the RM12.5 billion botched construction of Port Klang Free Zone
2) Taib Mahmud for awarding multi-million ringgit government contracts and land to companies belonging to his family members
If AG and MACC fail to act, their inaction will only vindicate public speculation that Khir Toyo’s prosecution is nothing more than a stunt by Barisan Nasional to build some temporary goodwill, just enough goodwill to give Barisan Nasional a boost in the lead-up to early elections next year, before once again disappointing the public with their complete and utter absence of competency, accountability and transparency.
Teresa Kok
Don’t be scaredlah Teresa,nothing will ever happen to this panglima wira negara one,relak sikit.
Samy calls it a day;
Ling is taken to task for PKFZ scandal;
Khir is hauled to court;
BN is preparing a shield for whistle blower probably to catch you know who;
All these appear to suggest that BN is serious about reform.
Choto mate kudasai!
Think again, are these what appear to be?
The answer is No! No! and No!
The truth is….. BN is preparing for election; they are eliminating ex-politician and negative issues that may be brought up during the coming election campaign!
After election, everything will be forgotten!
DAP, PKR and PAS please take note!
It is amazing that our AG Patai took years to prosecute BN politicians while oppositions are prosecuted in a jiffy without any huha from the rakyat. Probably, by now the corruptor will have every thing taken care of being charged after such a long time. This clearly proved that what quality and integrity Bolehland has of the people running such an important government agency.
And i can bet my last cent with the present bunch of so called “judiciary” in charge, this highly arrogant, corrupted dickhead pendatang will be declared innocent. As usual, no proof, everything is done accordingly to Bolehland laws etc etc. Case tutop and here we go again.
YB
It is important for a successful prosecution to find out how Toyo and his wife paid $3.5 million for the land and whether they took over or took out a new loan for an additional $3.5 million for the land which originally cost $6.5 million. MACC may have missed this in their investigation. I don’t think they are very savvy on financial arrangements!
Please also ask MACC to investigate how much Khir spent on building the house and where he and his wife got the money from.
The construction cost would have been a million or two at least on top of which there would be millions for furniture etc.
Selangor does not pay its MB to be able to save millions of $ in under 10 years!

Do you think he will make public of his income tax return?You know the answer.
Yes it is yet another PR exercise to fish for votes.Back in 2004,can you remember one paper reported 18 cases of corruption to be hauled up but after election the storyline changed!
Look at these people and yet they got the guts smiling on camera and uttered rubbish, like I have done no wrong or I don’t understand English and have millions in the briefcase passing through airport check points.
we have legalised theft and fraud for some alright.
The hauling up of one or two high profile politicians and government servants (No powerful political-linked businessman by the way)are a plus to BN and not a minus as it extinguishes the probable firestorms that may spark off by these politicians that are considered liability to BN in the coming election.
So by that count, if opposition parties were to use these issues in their attempt to win vote based on the unacceptable behaviour of these politician in the coming election, it would be a a hard sell.
The BN Government appears to look ahead and seems to be aware that corruption will be an important issue in the coming election; and, has recently attempt to address them before announcing the election date.
So it is critical that opposition come up with new fresh issues and strategies to counter BN shadow play on corruption issue else it may be too late.
The latest TI survey done will be of great help since it indicates that under the BN Government, corruption will persist or even prevail over the next few years.
Good call YB!
I suggest for you to get the ball rolling by doing so first; make public of your income tax returns for past ten years.
