Press Statement by Teresa Kok, Selangor State Senior EXCO and MP for Seputeh on 30th August 2010 in Shah Alam
Tan Sri Rozali’s claim that Selangor Malay Chamber of Commerce is being sidelined by Selangor is completely false and baseless
Tan Sri Rozali Ismail’s statement that the Selangor state government has been sidelining the Selangor Malay Chamber of Commerce is irresponsible and has no basis whatsoever. (Source: http://www.mmail.com.my/content/47793-malay-chamber-regrets-being-sidelined-selangor-government ).
The Selangor state government believes in economic development through business promotion, which includes our agenda of promoting the halal industry and economic development of the Bumiputera. To achieve these goals, Selangor state government has continuously been engaging with all relevant business stakeholders to work together in open dialogues to achieve these goals in a clean, transparent manner. The Selangor state government has never and will never sideline, marginalise or exclude any chambers of commerce from this process.
For example, Selangor state government organised a dialogue on Selangor’s annual budget on 26 to 27 July 2010. All chambers of commerce were invited to attend, including the Selangor Malay Chamber of Commerce. Organisations like Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (REHDA) sent their representatives to present their views and represent their interests at the forum. In contrast, the Selangor Malay Chamber of Commerce did not attend despite being invited, for reasons best known to them. Their conspicuous absence from this pivotal dialogue was both startling and disappointing.
Furthermore, the Selangor state government has formed an advisory body called Selangor Business Council. We have appointed business people, analysts and economists from all backgrounds to sit on the council, including prominent Malay business people and economists and members of the Selangor Malay Chamber of Commerce. To accuse the Selangor State Government of sidelining Malay business people is tantamount to spreading lies and misinformation.
I believe that Tan Sri Rozali Ismail made this baseless statement due to his personal grudge against Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid and the Pakatan Rakyat government for trying to buy over his cash cow, Syabas. It is well known that Tan Sri Rozali is a major financier of UMNO, thus he has joined the fray of Pakatan Rakyat government bashing initiated by UMNO.
Teresa Kok
YB,
Now, Rozali said he has been sidelining by State government. Then, you said DPMMS been invited.
I just want to know the fact?
How many times you invite DPMMS in dialogue or any business discussion since you elected as Exco?
Do you have any proof to support you statement above? If any official letters, memo and else?
Please YB, I and many Selangorians want the quality service from the govt. Not the politicking game from u!
They don’t attend your meetings so that they can then accuse you of not including them in your policies.
dear teresa,
congratulations on these activities.congratulation too on the attempted takeover of water concessions.dialogue, business council, advisory bodies, committee meetings, redtapes
and beuracracy..
nothing gets done in selngor.khalid must go.
So what is PM’s concept of 1Malaysia all about when…
UMNO’s representative is still quarreling about Malay is sidelined?
MCA is still fighting for the right of Chinese from UMNO! and,
MIC is hoping for better deal for the Indian from UMNO!
The fact is old habit dies hard!
So, do not be misled, the following still prevailing in BN:
Umno for Malay:
MCA for Chinese; and,
MIC for indian.
BN for ???? but definitely not for 1Malaysia.
Based on Tan Sri’s remarks and some of the responses, PM’s idea of 1Malaysia is therefore just an illusion.
The fact is Malaysia is still heavily divided along racial line since 1957;
Nothing have changed since then except the slogan.
By the way, i and the poor have been sidelined by BN’s government since independence!
Can Tan Sri help us?
It is the case of the pot calling the kettle black. Look at how the BN government sidelined states run by the oppostion. Penang tax payers are being cheated of their rights as the federal government refused to give the allocated money to the opposition. Kedah has to sue for petrol money. Come on, with the power of the BN and the continuous ranting of special rights, who can ever sideline the Malays.
It is another political game and I am thoroughly sick of it. I still want the different races to live in harmony and I hope they wont be sucked in by these leaches who are using them as tools of their political agenda.
