Panasonic sees double-digit sales growthhttp://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/10/23/business/4959795&sec=business
SHAH ALAM: Panasonic (M) Sdn Bhd expects to achieve double-digit growth in sales to RM1.9bil for its financial year ending March 31, 2011 (FY11).
This would be supported by an aggressive sales team as well as new sales and marketing strategies and campaigns, said executive director Ng Chee Keong.
Ng said the company was expecting RM1.7bil revenue for FY10 after having recorded RM850mil for the first half ended Sept 30.
“As we are expecting double-digit sales growth (in FY11), we need a much bigger logistics facility to cater to the increase in product demand,” he said yesterday at the ground-breaking ceremony for the company’s new integrated logistic complex.

Eignretep Group, a logistics company that offers supply chain management solutions, is the official contractor and owner of the new complex.
It will lease out the RM55mil complex, probably the first in Malaysia to be built with the “eco-friendly” concept, to Panasonic when completed in October next year.
Ng said the new 350,000-sq-ft facility would be much bigger than its current one and this would also enable Panasonic to speed up its product delivery within Malaysia.
“We will be able to consolidate our trans-shipment of goods, which require cross-docking from our current distribution centre nearby to the existing Eignretep warehouse around here.
“With this consolidation, our delivery lead time to east Malaysia will be improved by up to three days,” he said.
Ng said one of the company’s logistics policies was to ensure prompt delivery of its products to dealers within 24 hours along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
“Therefore, the construction of this integrated complex is very timely to meet our challenges,” he added.
the term supply chain trigger a raw nerve in me.
I believe 1 way to combat inflation, lower the price of goods and services hence improving the purchasing powers of Malaysians rests on supply chain management
I have a suspicion that a lot of the goods and services arrived into the hands of the consumers after one too many intermediaries. I also consider land speculators as part of the supply chain
1 of the stories I heard from a fruit seller is that papaya costs more than durians nowadays because property development
has pushed fruits cultivation into unsuitable and isolated terrain and resulted in higher cost of transportation.
until and unless the supply chain make up is known to the public, my suspicion lingers.
