The criticism by Selangor PAS Youth Chief, Mohamed Sukri Omar, against Seri Kembangan State Assemblyperson YB Wong Siew Ki regarding her proposal to introduce a closed and modern pig farming system in Selangor is very surprising and confusing.
The statement by the Selangor PAS Youth Chief clearly contradicts the position expressed by the Selangor PAS Commissioner, Dato’ Ab Halim Tamuri, during his delegation’s visit to the China Press headquarters on 30 January 2026.
In that interview, the Selangor PAS Commissioner emphasized that PAS does not oppose pig farming in Selangor nor prohibit non-Muslims from consuming pork, provided that environmental cleanliness is fully safeguarded to prevent pollution and that such activities are located in suitable areas.

This statement by the Selangor PAS Commissioner was well received by the non-Muslim community. However, the recent remarks by the Selangor PAS Youth Chief are in direct contradiction to the Commissioner’s stance.
These conflicting views within Selangor PAS clearly indicate that the Selangor PAS Commissioner has lost credibility within his own party.
Furthermore, Selangor PAS appears to lack a consistent policy and sincere commitment to resolving issues related to pig farming, and instead seems more interested in exploiting this issue for political gain.
Many countries around the world have adopted closed and modern livestock farming systems, including companies in our neighboring countries.
If Malaysia aims to reduce dependence on imported food, we must develop modern farming and agricultural systems that protect the environment while meeting the food needs of our population.
Therefore, the speech by YB Wong Siew Ki in the Selangor State Assembly demonstrates that she is a forward-thinking and people-focused representative who is genuinely interested in solving public issues.
I urge the Selangor PAS Youth Chief to follow the example of the Selangor PAS Commissioner and YB Wong Siew Ki, and to stop playing racial politics on this issue.
