PARTI Warisan Sabah president Shafie Apdal has promised to reveal information about Umno Chief Minister Musa Aman when he returns to Parliament.
The former Umno minister, now being probed by the anti-graft authorities over rural development projects in Sabah, said he will reveal more about his arrest and remand by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in connection with alleged embezzlement of RM1.5 billion meant for the projects.
“How many companies does Musa have? (I’m) not going to say anything now. I will at Parliament. That’s where my privilege is. That is my place,” he told reporters after his release on MACC bail today.
He was released on RM100,000 bail in two sureties after seven days in remand.
The feud between Shafie and Musa has been an open secret, ever when the latter was still in Umno.
It was also reported that Musa supported Shafie’s suspension from the party at the June 24 supreme council meeting last year.
The two also reportedly couldn’t see eye to eye during previous Umno annual general meetings and were understood to be rivals for the top leadership in Sabah Umno.
“I’ll try to go to Parliament next week, but I will check whether my health permits it. I have to undergo health checks first. My hypertension and blood pressure (levels are) 201 to 210, so this is not something that should be taken lightly,” said Shafie, who also showed symptoms of having the flu.
Shafie said all his efforts were for the sake of the country and that he was willing to give his life for the Warisan cause.
He said MACC officers had treated him well during his detention, but he believed those behind the probe were determined to see him fall from grace. However, he said he would not stop, even if his “spirit is broken”.
He claimed that the MACC had allegedly opened investigation files on him from as early as 2009 but only decided to disclose it now as the general election was nearing.
“Even if my feet are tied, I will not stop. I have said it before and will say it again: I will fight Barisan Nasional in Sabah. There have been rumours spread about me that I will make a U-turn.
“But I will say it again: there will be no turning back for me.”
Shafie also thanked his supporters for raising the RM100,000 bail money for him and reminded them to respect the law at all times.
He said throughout his political career, he had never thought Sabahans of different races would come together under the Warisan struggle.
More than 200 Warisan supporters turned up at Shafie’s house after his release.
