Azmin’s loyalty to PH questioned at Mahathir’s Nothing2Hide forum

Posted on Tuesday, 15-08-2017 by -ec-

The PH chairman agrees Azmin Ali’s stand on PAS differs from others in the coalition, but says that they all agree BN needs to go.

SHAH ALAM: PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali’s warm ties with PAS has led some to question his loyalty to Pakatan Harapan (PH).

A participant at former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s “Nothing to Hide 2.0” forum earlier today said he was concerned with Azmin’s recent appointment as PH election director, a concern apparently shared by a large number of those present.

But Mahathir, who is now the chairman of PH, did not hesitate when he expressed his confidence that Azmin, just like others in the opposition coalition, wanted to see Prime Minister Najib Razak and his BN government removed.

“Everyone has their own fight and if we focus solely on our individual struggles, then we can’t have a coalition.

“So we focus on efforts to take down Najib. Everyone, including Azmin, agrees on this.

“Maybe he (Azmin) has different opinions when it comes to PAS.

“We are resolving this, but I’m sure he holds the same principles as PH, which is to take down Najib,” said Mahathir confidently.

The 92-year-old also said the fact that all four of PH component parties can now agree to contest the 14th general election under one logo, is a strong enough sign that they are united.

“Our goal is simple, to take down Najib and form a new government which will solve all problems caused by Najib’s administration.”

Mahathir’s new political outfit, PPBM, was officially formed in September last year. Six months later, it joined the other opposition parties, DAP, PKR and Amanah, under the PH banner.

All four parties will participate in the upcoming general election under one logo, and with one manifesto, in an effort to ensure that Umno and BN are defeated for the first time since independence.

Present at the forum this afternoon was DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang and Amanah’s Khalid Samad.

No notable PKR leaders, except for its Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin and Selangor exco member Daroyah Alwi, made an appearance.

Mahathir had also invited Najib to the forum, saying the two could have discussions on claims that he enriched his children while Najib could explain how he had RM2.6 billion in his personal accounts

The prime minister, however, was a no show. According to Mahathir, this meant Najib “has a lot to hide”.

The forum ended abruptly after a flare was fired at the stage and chairs went flying. Mahathir was ushered to safety quickly.
