KUALA LUMPUR: Teresa Kok (Seputeh-DAP) and Shahbudin Yahya (Tasek Gelugor-BN) today got into a war of words after accusing each of being bad.
The tiff between the rival lawmakers happened during a debate on Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill 2016.
Kok was delivering her speech when Umno man Shahbudin interjected. She allowed the interruption but remarked: “Ini yang jahat ni (This is the bad one.)”
Her remark against Shahbudin was in obvious reference to the latter’s accusation against Lim Guan Eng (Bagan-DAP), who is also the DAP secretary-general, of corruption.
Lim is facing charges for purchasing a bungalow below market price and changing a land status in favour of a private company.
“Retract. Seputeh is the bad one. She is childish,” Shahbudin countered.
Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee had to request several times before Kok relented.
“I retract ‘bad’. He has bad intention,” Kok said.
Earlier, Liang Teck Meng (Simpang Renggam-BN) pointed out that the Penang state government did not reveal plans for the undersea tunnel project.
Zairil Khir Johari (Bukit Bendera-DAP) intervened to counter Liang’s accusation.
“The state government is in the midst of getting environment impact assessment from the Environment Department. Isn’t that under federal government?” he asked.
