PETALING JAYA: While DAP as a political party had proven many times that it is impartial to race, PAS on the other hand has shown Malays just how selfish they can be, said Zaid Ibrahim when commenting on the decision by national literary laureate Samad Said to join the former.
Wanting to be among the first to congratulate the poet-activist and former Bersih co-chairman, Zaid also lauded Pak Samad’s unwavering struggle to see a better Malaysia come about and said, “As a Malay, his decision to join a party like DAP shows that his political convictions are sound.”
Zaid, who was a law minister years ago, was also all praises for DAP, saying they had managed Penang well and had been generous to PAS, its coalition partner, by giving them hundreds of posts there.
“This is in stark contrast with PAS, which gave practically nothing to PKR in Kelantan despite the fact that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim campaigned all over the state in the last two elections,” Zaid said in his latest blog posting.
He also pointed out that DAP had done a lot to help Kelantan’s flood victims during the great floods of last year, praising it as a “caring party that disregards the ethnicity of those it helps”.
Calling on Malays who wanted to be active in politics to follow in Pak Samad’s footsteps, he added, “Now is the time to break down the walls of fear and prejudice and rebuild a set of healthier political values.”
He said it was time for the Malays to stop being afraid of the Chinese and Indian and added, “DAP has shown Malays that they are generous and PAS has shown Malays they are selfish.
“Let’s all vote DAP in 2018.”
