Evidence of BN Sending Phantom Voters to Kelantan?

Posted on Friday, 07-03-2008Thursday, 08-05-2008 by Teresa

Today is the last day of the election campaign. I did my level best in my walkabouts campaign in a few areas in the Seputeh and Kinrara constituencies – as we near the final hours of the campaign period.

At about 4pm, when I was resting at my Kinrara office, I was informed by a journalist that it is suspected that BN is sending “phantom” voters to  go back to vote in Kelantan. That they were gathered at the car park opposite the Hockey Stadium at Bukit Jalil.  I then went there with my assistant and a foreign journalism student.

I was really surprised to see all the tents that has been set up by Barisan Nasional at the car park there. There was a card with the name of a Parliamentary constituency placed on top of each tent, like Pasir Puteh, Kubang Kerian, Pengkalan Chepa etc. There are  blue uniformed workers in each tent, and most of them mainly Malays, qued up at each tent to
register. I met some reporters there and I told them that I suspected this is a phantom voters shifting exercise.

I then sat with a woman with two kids. She told me she was from Pengkalan Chepa. She showed me and to reporters an evelope containing RM200 that she had collected from the counter. The press then took photos of her and me. She was a bit hesitant to be photographed but then we assured her that her full face would not be published in the media.

I told her that I know the former PAS MP for Pengkalan Chepa, I said he sat near to me in the Dewan Rakyat. I told her who I was and she looked so delighted to meet me personally. She said she came to know about this registration exercise through word of mouth.

While we were chit-chating at the car park, a Malay man came to take our photo from our back. After that another Malay man approached my assistant and told him that he could not take photos of their tents anymore. I then told my assistants and the press that I got to go as I was wearing DAP Wanita T-shirt, the longer I stay the more trouble I will create for the journalists in carrying out their duties.

I told Dr Dzulkifli from PAS about what was going on. He asked me to keep the evidence.

Two days ago, Najib asked the people in Kelantan to give BN a chance to rule that state for a term. His statement amused me as this was what the DAP told the voters during Tanjong 3. It also indicates how desparately BN wants to take over Kelantan.

Good God, I could never imagine that BN can be so blatant in openly attempting to bribe” voters. It is really an eye-opener for me. I felt heavy in my heart and of course by now, you would have guessed what will be topic of my ceramah for tonight.

    The BN is desperate.
    Really desperate!
What with candidates like your opponent who are adept at shooting themselves in both feet!
Wonder how she manage to stand when meeting the voters!

Two sentences to describe the BN now…
“DESPERATE TO WIN” & “FEAR TO LOSE”

    I feel that the BN
    * is afraid to lose their power to their opponent.
    * shown that they have run out of ideas to run the country.
    * don’t understand young generation like us.
    * makes us (thinker) looks like fool, besides they also under estimate the young generation whom will not vote for them thru all their “so call” accomplishment published in media. What a outdated strategy! :-p

Though I do not support them, but just to share a fair note. All Kelantanese I know are taking the ‘free’ BN bus back because, they can get ‘ang pow’, free ride & to support Tok guru for free. So to them, BN are just morons.

Also explains why this lady was happy to hear that you know their leaders.

And from what I know, Kelantanese are very protective of their own state than any others I know (especially S’gor). There are many young people who took the whole week off to campaign, and last night, thousands more stayed vigil, guarding the roads to ‘Kelate’, stopping every possible bus. They have also uncovered a school hoarding phantoms

Someone should audit those NRIC list? If this woman really is a phantom voter who votes more than one place, then her name and IC no. should appear in both places.

Dear YB & yr BA comrades,

I am extremely moved by the success of the Barisan Alternatif and the Malaysian people in the 12th GE.

However, in addition to congratulating you all, a few things cross my mind.

“With great powers come great responsibility”
    – Stan Lee, creator of Spiderman

“With great expectation comes great responsibility”
    – Lee Wee Tak, not related to Stan

BA has started with what Badawi had 4 years ago – great hope of Malaysians for a better tomorrow. As we can see, the bigger they come, the bigger they fall.

I can forgive you guys for being inexperience, naive, over enthusiastic but I cannot forget if you guys go back on promises, statements and pledges made from 2004 till 2008.

I am worried with different fundamental political beliefs, can PKR, DAP and PAS agree on things? Otherwise BN will hardly need to work hard to point out the ineffectiveness of BA.

The campaigning for 2013 election starts now. People of Malaysia will have their eyes on BA elected candidates everyday and we need to work towards convincing the people of Sabah, Sarawak, Johor, Melaka, N Sembilan, Pahang and Perlis that they are more capable nation administrators and leaders from BA!

    Regards and best wishes

Just heard over RTM that a MCA honco lamented that Chinese voices will not be heard in the government.

I wonder, didn’t Abdullah Badawi mentioned BEFORE the election, he is the PM for ALL Malaysians (and that he work hard, very hard too), so with or without a host of elected MCA men, he should look after Chinese, Indians, KadazanDusun, Senois, Negrito and marooned martians in Malaysia.

I looked through the election results and notice that in most Malay majority areas, UMNO still reign supreme. So what is BN/UMNO going to do?

Would UMNO want to go alone? According to Malaysia Today, the CM of Melaka mentioned that Malay votes alone can ensure UMNO rule Malaysia (I hasten to add that I cannot substantiate what is mentioned in the blog)

If BN/UMNO wish to “punish” non-Malays over the next 5 years with a hope to coerce less stoic soul to return to voting for BN, it would provide more ammunition for the opposition, and also make Malaysia a considerably less attractive for business, leisure, hospitality and tourism location. The UMNO vested business interest will suffer even more.

If BN/UMNO wish to woo back the Chinese and Indians, going back to some opinion that I heard of but can’t agree, would “compromise Malay interest” (which I disagree, aiding deserving Malaysians does not mean putting other deserving Malaysians at an disadvantage) then I can see a glorious 5 years where all races in Malaysia would be very well serviced by the government and opposition.

BN/UMNO would face the following issues:
    1) whether to wack the non-Malays or to woo them

    2) how to retain Malay support and prevent spill over effects from Kedah, Perak and Selangor to other states?

    3) BN needs to re-invent itself, i.e. getting new blood, getting new methods to become a more attractive options to sophisticated voters

BA would face the following issues:
    1) for the first time, highlighting issues is no longer adequate. performance count and I wonder the level of support from existing government staff in the states that BA took over. People like Teresa Kok, Lim Guan Eng having states and federal seats would be in unfamiliar position and I hope additional resources is available to them.

    2) getting PAS, PKR and DAP to adopt a common stand on all issues in order to present a united front. Not easy as each party has their own fundamental principles.

    3) meeting the expectation of the voter, which some can be unrealistic

    4) making in roads into Johor, Melaka, Perlis, N Sembilan, Sabah and Sarawak, if the BA habours the intention to take over the political rein (which I support – having a credible alternative government like the UK or US would meant more choices for the people)

For voters, I urge all of us to be:

    1) more politically aware and make yourself heard so that you can be a part of the political process. Take a vacation to Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe and try to see what they have and what we don’t

    2) have realistic expectation for the BA and maintain communication with them so the feedback can be put to good use

    3) help educate the less politically aware friends and relatives

    4) be compassionate and be understanding

Let’s hope and pray for a better tomorrow

oh yea, would we see the title “Dato” being added onto Lim Guan Eng, Teresa Kok, Chow Kon Yew, Tan Seng Giaw, Teng Chang Kim, Fong Poh Kuan since they are the state government of Penang, Perak and Selangor?

Or even Lim Kit Siang, Karpal Singh for that matter.

Congratulations on your win! With victory as said comes with more responsibility but I am confident you can do it! I am however dissapointed that DAP will be giving away the Perak CM post to PAS despite gaining the highest number of wins for the state. I am worried that with PAS leading the Perak folks will live in restrictive and primitive situations like no entertainment, separate counters for male and female etc

Congratulations on the incredible win! I just want to encourage you with this piece of scripture.

Was just struck by this and realised how relevant it is to the victory (esp the ‘righteousness’, the ‘peacemakers’ and the ‘persecuted’ parts. 😉 :

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

I’m doubt that DAP selangor will be split and lose in coming general election. Due to Selangor DAP has a hegemony and power crazy politician (Ronnie Liu). He definitely will race for Chairman in coming Selangor DAP office-bearer election. He is acts like a spokesman of Selangor DAP. DAP leaders should advise him. Otherwise DAP selangor will be the loser in next general election.

sorry if i am saying wrong.. from my personal view and maybe is some of malaysian or those bn ppl view.. this general election.. malaysian vote the opposition is not becos they confidence with them.. is becos they are angry with so much problem arising and the goverment did nothing to it. so now is the time for the opposition to work hard and run the state more successful then the previous so the next time of election the voters vote opposition is because they can trust them.and last my advices is putting a malay or indian as a candicate doesnt show dap a multi racial party.. they party should organize more social activity in malay and indian community ensure them will vote for dap next time not becos of pas.. or keadialn.. is becos dap fight for all malaysian

    Dear Sassy MP/Assemblywoman/Deputy-MB-to-be,

The news about the undecided position of Deputy MB had just appeared in Merdekareview for not long ago…

It was reported that you are most likely to be “the chosen one”… and if it does… We’ll have our first ever woman deputy-MB, perhaps a milestone for Malaysian… 🙂

However as a voter and of course a Malaysian to ask you your stand/opinion about:

    1. What do you think about the most experienced ruling state assemblyman Teng Chang Kim not “the chosen one” instead of you…

    2. Rumor has it, some of the DAP elected representatives, which included Teng Chang Kim etc, are not siding with the party’s “mainstream” and thus being treated “badly” by DAP… How do the DAP, or you, deal with people like this? Or do you think such rumor is irrelevant?

    3. If you are to take the deputy-MB position, you are then stacked by 3 jobs, Seputeh MP, Kinrara State Assemblywoman and Selangor Deputy-MB, how would you cope with such a huge stack of work, and yet be able to communicate with the people on the ground well? I know that the newly sworn Penang CM and the Selangor MB-to-be are both stacked like this but I thought it would be cool to avoid such “job-stacking” as much as possible…

Hopefully you could pay a short bit of time to shed some light to a confusing DAP supporter like me… 🙂

If you want to have a better future for our children in Malaysia, do you bit by signing the on-line petition at http://bersih.org.

Why do we need to reform the Election Commission?

    1) the discrepancy between number of voters in urban and rural seats is too great. The smallest parliamentary seat (Federal Territory, Putrajaya) has only 6,608 voters while the parliamentary seat for Kapar in Selangor has 112,224 voters. What this means is that one vote in the Putrajaya parliamentary constituency is equivalent to 17 votes in the Kapar constituency.

    2) A common tactic is to ‘buy’ the identity card of the voters. Party members will then vote on the voters’ behalf. Random checking of a person’s identity must be conducted using those finger print checking device. Any voting done on another person’s identity must be made a serious offence under the election law.

    3) The rules on postal voting must be reviewed, tightened and amended. The current rule favours the ruling party as the armed forces personnel and policemen who vote by ‘postal voting’ would obviously not jeopardize their career or promotion prospect by voting for the opposition.

    Dear Teresa,

Please ask uncle Kit to take back the call to DAP Perak state reps to boycott the swearing in of the Perak MB ceremony.

The rakyat supported DAP, PAS and PKR on the pretext that these three parties will unite to bring about changes. Everyone recognise that alone, national unity and change cannot come about.

Hence, it is important for DAP to be in the team and not make noise. Please Teresa, please tell uncle Kit to withdraw his statement for the good of the nation!

    Dear YB Teresa,

Please support YB Teng Chang Khim for the post of Deputy MB of Selangor should a DAP state assemblyperson be appointed. With due respect to you, IMHO, YB Teng is more suitable for the post because:

    1) He has vast experience and proven track record, having served as an elected representative in the state legislative assembly since 1995. No doubt you too have equally excellent track record as an MP.

    2) You are still the MP for Seputeh. Bear in mind that Seputeh, as it is in the Federal Territory of KL, does not have a state assemblyperson to look after the wellbeing of the people. In addition, Malaysians by and large still look upon you to represent them in the parliament as you have been doing a really good job. YB Teng, in contrast, holds only the post of state assemblyperson and we expect him to do a good job in the administration of Selangor.

    3) This is an opportunity for you to show to DAP leaders and, more importantly, the people – your true BOSSES, that you are above factional party politics. DAP is for the people, not for Ronnie Liu, not even Kit Siang and Guan Eng. You will practise what you preach – that posts should be given to those with the best credentials and merits – won’t you?

    Agree with you, Choong.

    Dear Teresa,
This election may be the one and only chance or you may call it an assignment people give to the coalition parties before you guys rule the country in the next election.

I think we all must admit that this vitory is contributed by all races; not all peoples that vote for DAP are originally supporters of DAP. We are able to accept the coalition between DAP-PKR-PAS, but your must prove to us that this is work.

Peoples are wacthing on you(coalition parties); especially BN. Please show us that you guys are really the ‘governemnt in waiting’ like what Anwar said and no longer an oppositionist. Boycott is no longer work. We chinese always said ‘海纳百川 有容乃大’. Why not give PAS a chance to prove that they are really changing, since DAP still holding the majority seats. We don’t really care what is the skin color of the leader, the most important things is he/she work for all races.

I start to see you peoples fighting for position in the state government, I think this is not healthy, I hope all positions are choosen based on capability rather than seniority.

Finally please ask Uncle Lim and all assemblymen to attend the ceremony tomorrow. This is important.

Please don’t let us down, your are our hope for the future of our country and our next generation.

    Regards,
My whole family VOTED FOR CHANGE!

No worries about pas being the MB. I’ve been working in Terengganu for 3 years. People (chinese) there told me the state was better when pas-ruled it. More
pubs & longer op hours! 😮

The coalition should know if any of them being bias to any single race, they’ll lose in the coming elections.

Now, i think the most important thing dap can do:
    1. Re-open the space needed for indian temple which was closed down by UMNO – Gain indian support.
    2. Offer land for chinese primary schools and throw the ball back to Fed. gov since only MOE’s the authority for such schools – 1 stone killing 2 birds to gain chinese support (show chinese dap cares abt chinese education & better still if Fed. gov refuses to open the new chinese schools ^_^)
    3. Offer minor projects e.g. building bridge , small community hall to kampong folks & they’ll thank the state gov like hell 😛

However, I am filled with concern from what I had seen from the Star Post Election Forum that you had participated.

For 3 times when you mentioned that the opposition would be the govt, you were in laughter. I do not understand the gesture! Is the opposition’s victory a joke?! It is NOT! We need to show confidence, professionalism and conviction on winning so that we can continue to garner more support and not give any opportunity for BN talk us down.

And the portrayal of even the slightest concern or uncertainty needs to be stopped. We need to show full confidence in our actions and oration every single time so that we set the highest standards for others to follow. There is no room for casuality.

And finally, start being the government and not the opposition.

We may not get another chance so lets make this one count!

    GO FOR IT!

    Teresa,
I’m your ex comrade. May be, I’m still a member because I didn’t pay for the membership for more than 10 year. The reason I left DAP due to P. Patto and Lau Dak Kee faction. Remember your lost at Ipoh Barat Parlimentary seat also due to this two faction.I still cherish the party eventhough I left DAP. I sincerely hope that DAP wouldn’t split any more especially at Selangor. Selangor DAP already lost two terms due to the worst leadership of Ronnie Liu. I stay at Puchong and I vote for you and Gobind Singh Deo. As Roman Catholic of me, I wish that you will be a Deputy MB. But Teng Chang Khim must be highly recommend as a Exco. Ronnie Liu must out of any administration officer. This is my wish and also the wish of the people who really support DAP. But not like Ronnie Liu said that his people, our people or my people. Once again, this is all people’s wish. Regards.

As many other commentators here have said, if there is any truth to the Deputy MB issue, I must say the more experienced state legislator should have precedence.

Furthermore, I do believe you would make a good Shadow Minister in the federal parliament.

    cheers

YB…. how to work together with PAS….???

If you understand Islamic value, a “God” fearing PAS will implement full version of Islamic laws when they are in power gradually.

It seems to me that DAP is assisting PAS to fit their agenda together slowly but needly… in the name of “the will of their god”… i.e. PAS MB in Perak… in other words DAP is part of evil transformation.

DAP is a tool to PAS… I hope YB see it clear enough.

    Dear Sassy MP/Assemblywoman,

The Merdekareview had alleged the result of DAP’s Selangor exco list not long ago… and I was deeply saddened by the fact that Teng was left out… how I wish it wasn’t true… but Merdekareview has never failed to give correct insider story for DAP…

    I’m extremely disappointed even though I’m a quite-die-hard DAP supporter…

Anyway, just to pass on another “request” here… I recall you mentioned weeks before that you practice transparency in your campaign fund…

Perhaps it is good for you to show us how much donations had you been collected, how much was spent and how much was leftover, as well as how you are going to do with the leftover money? I believe this is the real transparency you mentioned and I believe this will indeed increase your and DAP’s integrity… 🙂

    Cheers,

    Dear YB,

I have no problem DAP working with PAS provided that both give compromise to each other – PAS allowing non-muslims to live according to their religion and custom while DAP should not be so islamphobia.

I believe both can moderate out each other provided debates based on reason, logic, common sense and mutual respect are carried out.

Bentoh is right. If you can provide details of the fund received and used, that will give you much credibility.

As a qualified accountant, I offer my service to write up a report of your fund usage, free of charge.

Also, I suppose you are darn busy but a little update on the state government formation is much appreciated. Before GE< your blog is a hotbed of activity. DOn’t let this blog goes cold. It’s an interaction platform between you and the supporters.

    Teresa,
First, I want make clear that I’m not your people ( A reading from Ronnie Liu. Ronnie’s Bible). I ‘m Teng Chang Khim’s people. I hope that Abdullah Badawi make a snap election now due to the SA and MP have not swearing yet. Let all the people make judgement whether opposition or BN will be the ruling party. This is a quite good suggestion and also Abdullah make a show-hand gamble who is the winner. But I dare say that opposition will be the loser and two third majority will be maintain by BN. And also BN will ruling party at Perak, Selangor and Penang. Only Kelantan and Kedah will rule by PAS. DAP will leave three or four MP and SA. Believe it or not.

    Hi
I have always been a supporter of DAP until the last election because of negative media report but I have shifted my support back when I got real news from the internet about the BN.

Now concerning the phantom voters, by sending their supporters to the east coast to vote, they have deprived themselves of more votes in their own backyard. The next round they won’t know where to send their people except to support their top leaders or they be slaughted like chicken.

Now Kui Li has asked for an EGM on May 11 for all the Umno divisions to meet. Then on May 12 they will brainstorm on how to regain and protect their special birthright to govern. The Day After….???
