Yesterday, I attended the DAP FT Convention. Secretary General Lim Guan Eng spoke on the current hudud law issue being played up by UMNO and mainstream media which they control. We passed a resolution stating DAP FT’s stand on the matter as follows:
DAP FT CONVENTION MOTION:
That this Convention
1) Is disturbed by statements raised by certain PAS leaders on their intention to implement Hudud Law, which is contrary to the PR Common Policy Framework and Orange Book agreed to and signed by all 3 parties.
2) Reminds all PR leaders to respect the consensus reached by PR in uniting Malaysia under the common principles of justice, freedom, integrity, democracy and truth which does not include implementing hudud law which is not mentioned at all in the PR Common Policy Framework and Orange Book
3) Reiterates that winning power in Putrajaya is to save Malaysia from BN’s endemic corruption and bankruptcy, and NOT to implement hudud law;
4) Urges all PR leaders to respect the PR Common Policy Framework and Buku Jingga and not to make divisive statements that is contrary to their own commitments reached so as to preserve unity and prevent BN from splitting PR so that PR can focus our energies on preparing for the coming general elections.
