In Chinese, there is a proverb that say “Be Promoted To Higher Official Position & Be Prosperous” or in Chinese: 升官发财.
During the ancient days in China, many people actually bought coffins and keep in their houses before they die. When I went to visit Yap Ah Loy’s ancestral home in Huizhou, China, I was very surprised and thrilled to see they put the coffin in high place under the roof. I was then told that this is derived from the Chinese well-wishing words “Be Promoted to Higher Official Position and Be Prosperous” (升官发财).
I was told that in those days, children even bought coffins for their parents to be kept in their houses.
In this Chinese New Year, I share with you guys this deadly hilarious photo and 升官发财!
