    What to protest?

You misleading the people with your half truth information la YB.

Khalid have been telling people left and right regarding the tariff will be increasing even though state take over the water management. At least by 15%. And the worse part is, tariff will increase by at least 12% every 3 years forever under Pakatan.

and SYABAS only impose the increases until 2021.

I dare to joint the rally as you are so brave inviting people to joint. As far as I know, DAP never joint any of this stupid rally. You pass them all to Indians from PKR and Malays from PAS. While DAP just sitting and watching. Sometimes laughing.

Hi… I am not sure taking back these private water companies is a good idea in the long run. Private is always better then government run. Problem is corruption and poor monitoring by goverment officials.
Improve this rather then take such a drastic step…
I know DAP is for socialism but please stop the socialist agenda for now. You risk losing support from non-socialist who for now… still votes for your party.

On another issue: YOUR BLOG IS STILL BANNED ON FB… Just some advice… get a free “URL redirection service”.

    Cheers

If Selangor state government take over the water supply….

    Who will run and maintain the water treatment plants;

Who will maintain and refurbish the water distribution networks that currently has a leakage of 40%?

Who will ensure that water thief will be eliminated?

Who will ensure that the procurement of chemical and replacement parts are transparent?

If you rely on the present set of people who manage all these treatment plants to tackle these important issues, Selangor state government will go bankrupt in no time.

Why? corruption! corruption! inefficiency! inefficiency! wasteful! wasteful ! That’s why!!!

    Just that you know!

Selangor state government is paying for 40% water leakage and water thief along the water distribution networks as the billing is based on the Bulk meter immediately outside the water treatment plant.

Another words, if you reconcile the water quantity registered in the bulk meter as against the individual meter, the bulk meter will registered 100 gallons while the individual meter will only add up to be 60 gallons.

It is scandalous and a fact! Just call up SYABAS to check the data, i guarantee you that you will come to the same conclusion!

    IPP needs not have to shoulder increase in fuel prices;

SYABAS need not have to shoulder water leakage and water thief losses.

Malaysia is truly a heaven for businessman and hell for her poor citizen!

In the event that the attempt to take over Syabas fails, Selangor state government should review the contract in order that the onus on water leakage and thief are transferred to the concession company.

The Selangor State government should act now to reduce water leakage from the water trnasmission and distribution networks, this will in effect reduce the water bill by as much as 40% every day! This will add up to be millions of dollars per months; and hundred of millions over a year!!

If State government do nothing now, then forget about the intention to save rakyat duit!

Selangor state government must carry out an audit immediately on the actual Total revenue collected from individual meters across the entire state and match them against the bulk meter readings that were used to pay the concessionaires.

The findings should be made public so that Rakyat is aware of why they should not pay for higher water tariff; and, also in order that Rakyat will support the takeover without any reservations.

Selangor state government should also check whether there are hidden profits that are used to pay powerful politician.

There is a possibility that big fat contracts such as supply of chemical, water meters and maintenance contract are given to Corrupted official and politician as a rewards for their supports for privatization.

A cursory check on the way the water tariff is arrived at will shed some light on these possibilities. For instance, the maintenance of a particular water treatment plants may be only RM 30,000.000, but the given out contract may be double of that. Furthermore, the maintenance contract may be given to a friendly party to the corrupted official and politician.

You could loss large sum of money managing a water treatment plants and water distribution networks overseas, but in Malaysia not only it is impossible to lose money, if you owe one you can make a fortune.

This applies to IPP as well.

20% loss to water leakage and thief leads to a bill arrear of RM 110,000.00 over a year in section 3 of TAMAN KINARA as reported in the newspapers.

This does not come as a surprise to me; and, that is why I stressed that if the Selangor state government takes over the water concession blindly without tackling or resolving the water leakage and thief problems after the bulk meter i.e. all along the transmission & distribution water pipeline networks, they will go bankrupt in no time!

The way by which lucrative utilities services privatization is awarded is by helping the concession company to erase all risks that are inherent with the privatization exercise.

    For instance,

If it is the IPP; then the risk involving fuel’s cost fluctuation will be transferred to the ignorant Government while the risk of consumption rate is transfer to TNB.

If it is water supply, the risk of water thief and leakage is transferred to the government; while the risk of water pollution will be transferred to the MOE.

If it is solid waste disposal, the risk of environment is transferred to MOE while the investment risk is transferred to MOHLG via high waste payment tariff.

This is the nature of privatization in Malaysia.

That’s why all utilities companies and IPP are making a fortune!

That’s why SYABAS want to increase the tariff not due to inflation but to maintain profit margin!

That’s why PLUS wants to increase toll rates again to maintain profit margin!

That’s why recently cabinet has approved the increase in Electricity tariff so that they can keep subsidize the IPP for fuel cost fluctuation at the expense of the Rakyat.

DAP, PKR and PAS should highlight these unfair practices to the rakyat!

If you are rich and earning tons of money will the present government subsidize your children education?

    The answer is no!

    But…….

Do you know that you and I or Rakyat in general is indirectly subsidizing rich and fat utilities companies in order that they can continue to make astronomical profits?

    and………

Do you know our business friendly government is indirectly subsidize IPP, water and other utility companies by shouldering and paying for all normal risks likely to be encountered by these privatized utility companies?

So each time you received your electricity, water, telephone, assessment (for wastewater and solid waste collection) and other bills and paying for tolls, be very angry about it for you have the right to do so.

The Government should buy back all utility and infrastructure companies- TNB, TELECOM, SYABAS, PLUS, SPLASH, ELITE, etc- and re-privatize them by transferring all risk to the new utility and infrastructure companies.

Failing which, by the year 2020, we will probably need to allocate 50% or more of our earning/salary to continue subsidizing the present utility and infrastructure companies.
