MIC Youth warps Selangor no-racial-quota education loans into racial issue

Posted on Saturday, 27-11-2010Saturday, 27-11-2010 by -ec-

Press statement by Teresa Kok, Selangor State Senior EXCO and Member of Parliament for Seputeh dated 27 November 2010 in Shah Alam

MIC Youth secretary C. Sivarrajah misleads public with false information to warp no-racial-quota education loans by Selangor State Government into a racial issue

MIC Youth Secretary C. Sivarrajah has copied MCA central committee member Ti Lian Ker to warp my good intentioned effort to openly encourage students from all races to apply for Selangor State Government’s no-racial-quota education loans into a ploy to mislead the public about how students of Indian background have supposedly been marginalized.

The fact is that in 2010, Selangor offered the education loan to 28 students of Indian background and not only 4 as Sivarrajah claims. In his quest to be a “hero”, he has resorted to deflating the true number of Selangor’s positive efforts by 7 times!

Furthermore, the total number of education loans offered by Selangor in 2010 is 525 and not the trumped up 4000 figure provided.

I reiterate that the Selangor State Government education loan has no racial quota imposed. All students are judged based on their academic merit and family household income.

The number of students who apply for and accept the Selangor educations loans is not high because they also have the option of applying for and accepting Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) loans which offer far larger sums.

It is thus disgraceful of Sivarrajah to twist Selangor’s education loan which assists students regardless of their skin colour into a racial issue to attack Selangor Pakatan Rakyat.

If Sivarrajah and MIC was genuinely concerned for Indian students, they would object to Public Service Department scholarships’ racial quotas instead of silently ignoring it.

This episode shows that Sivarrajah and MIC is still trapped in an outdated race-based paradigm of their own creation and cannot see beyond their own narrow political interests while remaining blind and indifferent to the genuine needs of all Malaysians as a whole.

EXCO for Education, Higher Education & Human Capital Dr Halimah and I provided the following data to the press at our joint press conference held on 16 November 2010. The full data provided to the press may be viewed here.

during their time, why not they review its record?
it had shown that they are scare what the PR is good at.
the rakyat had eye to see. the more they voice out the stupic they are one vote goes to PR !
let them do the stupic things , more vote goes to PR, the more credit to PR,
every time i read this story, i am glad, the PR got more credit and had shown the ability and credit to win.
this message had given confident into PR, tks to the MCA & MIC whom had done the job for rakyat to know the goodness and ability of PR to deliver .

The full disclosure of data on numbers of applicant based on ethnic grouping, breakdown on offers and acceptance are not available main stream.
It would be great if your blog can be shared and is connected to the facebook.
This will make sharing of information easier

    Daniel is right.
    I thought the same too.
These SOBs are shooting themselves in both feet!
They’re doing the PR a big favour.
However, these malevolent acts should be used as a platform by the PR to show up the hypocrisy of the BN.
In addition to the above there are other acts like the location of the pig farm in Selangor which was in fact a scheme formulated by the BN before they lose the state to the PR.
But when the PR wanted to implement it, the BN lost no time in vilefying the PR for doing it! Something they would have implemented if they had not lost to the PR!
There are others like the goodwill mosque visit by Teo Nie Ching, the RM100 payment to senior citizens etc which were used by the BN to vilefy the PR.
In fact, the PR have plenty of material to use against the BN.
Why not publicise acts such as these to give them a taste of their own medicine and at the same time acquire more admirers for the PR?
Go all out to ensure a resounding victory for the PR because we just cannot go on “as is” anymore.

Why do these Big-mouthed, Small-brained Wanabes, one after another, emerge from hibernation to confirm their stupidity? Cannot even read and understand tabulated figures and differentiate loans from scholarships. That these loans are for Anak Selangor only. Chinese says ker-lian, BM kesian, Tamil…..

Teresa, the PR, while lacking in printed media in putting forward its manifesto, can do a lot by using the alternative channels.
Like word of mouth, sms, blogs, websites etc to counter the deceptions of the BN.
Hopefully, the PR’s publicity section has done that on its own but there is no harm in making sure because there are still many Malaysians out there who are very care free and quite ignorant of such matters.
Let everyone knows the BN’s deceptions that have been going on and the good work done, and is still being done, by the PR.
With the BN committing so many self destructive acts, it should not be a very difficult task! They are helping the PR all the time!!
Go all out to secure Putrajaya in the next GE.
There are no ifs and no buts!

DAP is very smart to say the least. DAP’s polls ran smoothly, without any hiccups, even though there are problems. There are infighting and issues in DAP.
But the date selection (same with PKR’s polls) had covered this nicely. All the limelight of negativity goes to PKR as everybody’s eyes are on them. DAP is save. Smart, very smart.
But I don’t really know what the PKR going to say about this.
