I qued up to wait for my turn to swear in as MP. This photo was taken by YB Loh Gwo Burne, the PKR MP for Kelana Jaya from his seat.
I was finally sworn in as a third term Member of Parliament on Monday. I feel great to be able to come back to Parliament and met with some sparring partners from BN. We congratulated each other when we met at the Parliament lobby. For some of them, like MP for Kinabatangan dan Sri Gading, I jokingly asked them, “Hey, you masih ada kah?”
When I was interviewed by the media about this new Parliament, I always say that I am expecting a vibrant Parliament as the alternative parties finally broke two thirds majority of the Parliament after the country has reached 50th year of independence. I said that if we look at the background of many MPs at the opposition bench, we will find that many of them are either NGO activists or party leaders, this means they will certainly make well-prepared speech in the Dewan Rakyat, the same goes to BN back benchers too. I also said that the present phenomenom is healthy for democracy in the country.
The man who is swearing in is Dr Hiew Keng Cheu, DAP MP for Kota Kinabalu.
This is Loh Gwo Burne, both he and I brought our camera into Dewan Rakyat on the day of swearing in. He loves to take photos, that’s how he made himself famous.
I was sitting at the third row and second block on the left side of the Speaker. I was sitting with MPs who wear few hats like me, i.e Prof Ramasamy (Deputy Chief Minister of Penang, Ngeh Koo Ham (Senior exco of Perak) and Nga Kor Ming (exco of Perak).
The four DAP women MPs. From left to right: Fong Po Kuan (Batu Gajah), Chong Eng (Bkt Mertajam), Me and Teo Nie Ching (Serdang)
I was interviewed by RTM on the day when the King came to officiate the opening of Parliament sitting, ie 29th April 2008.
The longest serving Minister of MITI, Rafidah Aziz and me. We met each other at the Parliament lobby together with all the women journalists. She was complaining that her knees were painful, and she also said that she made her dress that she was wearing with Thai silk, and the whole suit cost her RM350 only.
“She was complaining that her knees were painful, and she also said that she made her dress that she was wearing with Thai silk, and the whole suit cost her RM350 only.”
With so much good food and good living on her frequent junkets overseas on MITI’s business, that’s hardly surprising!
As far as her dress is concerned, it’s cheap @ RM350 for a whole suit! She is undoubtedly a very thrifty person despite her fame!
Ngeh Koo Ham ? Thats Dato Ngeh Koo Ham now.
Seeing you being interviewed by RTM is refreshing but won’t know about the editing though.
And why is Ms Fong taking a quick nap? She watching football matches on telly like me too?
😛
Congratulations
Great to have you as Pakatan Rakyat’s MP for the third term.
Wishing you great success and God bless you in your day to day tasks as people’s representative.
Congratulations,
Great to have you as our rakyat rept in the parliment.
Wishing you and other DAP MP have the great success in moving toward to create the 1st class level of parliment.
All the best to you, Ms Teresa.
Tahniah YB Teresa Kok kerana selamat menjalani upacara mengangkat sumpah dengan jayanya sebagai Ahli Parlimen mewakili kawasan Seputeh untuk penggal ke-12 buat kali ketiga. 🙂
Saya tertawa melihat gelagat YB Loh Gwo Burne (PKR – Kelana Jaya) bersama-sama dengan kameranya. Saya tertawa disebabkan perasaan gembira saya berhubung dengan kes “Correct! Correct!
Terima kasih).
Terima kasih.
LONG LIVE PAKATAN RAKYAT!
RALAT / PEMBETULAN: Kenyataan di Para 3, Perenggan 9 sepatutnya berbunyi:- …(Rabu, 30 April 2008).
Harap maaf.
Tinta Perak,
Jika ahli-ahli PAS dikecualikan, Tan Sri Tan Chee Khoon tokoh pembangkang terakhir dianugerahkan gelaran, jika tak silap saya.
Terima kasih).”
Cuba bayangkan Anwar/Kit Siang lawan Najib/Badawi.
🙂
Theresa,
congratulation for being sworn in for the 3rd term. keep up the good work . Keep us posted on your encounther in the parliment. btw Gwo Burne, great shots you have taken here. All the best to you and all those from Pakatan Rakyat. Keep those BN Mp on their toes. dont give them rest.!!
Congrats to all PR MP’s who were sworn in and attended the first seating in parliment!!!
Make very sure the voice of the rakyat can be heard this time around. Am very sure MP’s from BN can’t sleep their way thru’ the session as can be seen from TV news before March 8.
On the ‘live’ coverage of parliment session, it is very true of lwt’s comments. Who would be those priviledged enough to watch, except those that he has mentioned!!! Am sure the rakyat would not mind if there is a delayed telecast of the proceedings on the same day, then most of us would be home to see the actual happenings and the hammerings those BN MPs will get. Also, visible would be the heros/heroines and the villians who would not be able to answer to questions posted.
Missed the half hour coverage this morning but when I was buying something on my way back just now, caught a little of the happenings in the news, when our Mr LKS was questioning the speaker of the ‘no more question’ episode. Am very sure, quite a lot were censored before we were able to hear them. Hope YB Kok will enlighten us the happenings.
On another note, YB Kok, please help us by helping yourself, chart out a format where all the government heads/assistants of all the departments. Their names, designation, contact numbers (office/hp), fax and if possible mail addresses. Make these info avaible to us so that we will forward whatever there is to the exact person accountable. These should then be compiled and documented and if there is no action or reply taken after three initiations, then will we forward these evidence to your goodself and YB will then know what to do from there.
Sick of seeing everyday happenings like potholes, faulty traffic lights, faulty street lamps, road signs that were hampered from view from trees and the likes. Get these people who are fortunate enough to move around in cars to be on motorbikes on a rainy day ( the weather is so unpredictable nowadays) and they will have the pleasure of experiencing what the poor bikers experience when they hit a pothole. If lucky, they may loose a hand or leg but more certain then not they may end up in hell!!!
YB, my two cents worth of suggestion only, am very sure YB is tied-up to your throat with work. Also, browse thru’ your team of helpers (full/part-time) in both your constituency, am sure, every little bit of help that YB can get from staunch and faithful supporters would certainly be delighful to YB.
Why don’t YB organise something, can start off by putting on blog,to invite part-time volunteers for a get together of ‘brain-storming’, to see what can be done. Am quite sure, many will turn up and then seive thru’ to see whoever can help in whatever their strength is. A word of caution though to those who are interested, have an open mind, contribute constructively and always have the rakyat in mind.
That’s all for the time being.
AHAAAAAAAA,,,,,,,,,
MY HERO Mr Loh is there…..
(becos i am photographer too, but yet to take a korek korek korek video)
Plsease Mr Loh, bring a secret but higher class james bond video camera into parliament, next time the BN monkeys talk cock, we wanna here and see the proof as soon as possible in U tube.. then we can screw them BN monkeys..
Teresa, please,
Next time that BUNG MOktar idiot from Kinabatangan says “bocor bocor ” again, you and mr Loh can just BURNE him up….
Yah, you can let Mr loh “Burne” all those monkeys…
he he he he
Dear Teresa
My best wishes to all Pakatan Rakyat MPs. The BN ones do not need my best wishes as some of them might have enough luck as they managed to get in their. (Good job, Pos Malaysia, well done)
The PK MPs are elected in demanding areas like Kinrara, Seputeh, Cheras, Serdang, Pulau Pinang etc. There is less complicated issues in areas where BN reps are elected in, Compare the daily issues in say Cheras & Bukit Bintang vs Rembau & Jasin. The BN reps should have an easier time than their PR counterparts. Having said that, the MPs from East Malaysia should work much harder to improve the life of voters and tax payers there.
I second what Philip Lee (no relation to Wee Tak) commented. Life for double/triple hatter like YB Kok is hard enough.
The presence of her assistants is sure sign of her commitment. Do not get pissed off if Teresa can’t be everywhere every time. I am sure her assistants represent her adequately.
I doubt Teresa has much time for herself so please, please, solve our own little small problems, keep evidence of correspondence, organize local citizen action groups. Only when you ran into brick wall, bring MPs in.
It is the failure of local authorities, let our MPs do what they are suppose to do. I look forward the day local authority election is revived.
It disturbs me to find that most of our government legislators are elected by rural folks, who admittedly, less sensitive to international environment and issues. Their comparatively lesser demands would have an impact on the mentality of their elected MP.
Does a voter in Rembau needs to worry whether their MP is well versed in the challenges of international competitiveness of the country, the state of our judiciary, the cost of production and cost of corruption question? Ok, KJ is tackling the corrupt footballers issue right now. Although it is a right step but one wonders about the big fish small fish comparison.
Today, I met with a Singaporean who told me that someone down South killed himself after being discovered to have pocketed S$1mil in HDB flat scheme. Such anti-corruption culture is a great deterrent to offenders and great service to society.
Sigh, in some society, one is ashamed to have stolen 1mil but in some other society, one is ashamed to have stolen ONLY 1 mil.
YB Teresa,
Congratulations on your third term. I look forward to your postings on parliamentary happenings. Irrespective of what RTM is trying to do, the general public now has access to what happened in Parliament through MP’s blogs. I do hope you and your fellow PR colleagues like Jeff Ooi, Zulkifli Noordin and others would continue to blog from parliament itself. Makes refreshing and highly interesting reading when compared to the MSM.
I agree with Sabahfan’s comments. Get Goh Burne to tape Kinabatangan when he speaks and upload to Youtube anytime the guy crosses the line. I understand that you have been through very hard times Teresa, and it’s now good to see that you have more colleagues to help you. Go give the BN reps a parliamentary session they wouldn’t want to remember.
And uh… finally, that MP from Serdang doesn’t look to bad either… 😉
MP Pasir Mas is of pure goon’s breed..tak bermaruah!tak berOTAK!
He not only insulted Karpal and the worldwide handicap communities but also we the Malaysian rakyats, for his RUDE and insensitive request towards a wheel chaired bound person(Karpal) to stand-up to speak! This was supported by that none other Kinabatangan ar$O with ‘kalau berani berdirilah’ remarks.Bigfoot surely have a much bigger brain than this HUM-KA-CHAN!

NOT EVEN ONE OF THEM!)
SAYA MAHU SEMUA AHLI PARLIMEN PAKATAN RAKYAT BERPEKERTI MULIA DAN TIDAK MEMBUANG MASA DALAM DEWAN RAKYAT SERTA BERFUNGSI DENGAN JAYANYA SEBAGAIMANA YG TELAH DIJANJIKAN DALAM KEMPEN PILIHAN RAYA UMUM KE-12 YG LEPAS, IAITU MEMBAHASKAN SOAL SISTEM PENTADBIRAN NEGARA YG PENUH DENGAN KETIDAKADILAN DAN RASUAH DAN HAK SERTA EKONOMI RAKYAT YG SEMAKIN MERUNCING! SAYA TIADA MASA UNTUK MENYOKONG BN YG HIPOKRIT ITU! JADI BERJUANGLAH ANDA SEMUA WAHAI WAKIL RAKYAT PAKATAN RAKYAT UNTUK MENGEMBALIKAN MARUAH RAKYAT MALAYSIA! SOKONGAN SAYA PADU BERSAMA-SAMA ANDA! JANGAN SIA-SIAKAN UNDI SAYA KEPADA ANDA!
LONG LIVE PAKATAN RAKYAT!
Tergelak tengok ‘bigmonkey’ lumpuh (MP BUKIT GELUGOR) tak sedar diri..
konon fikir dia bagus..
sedangkan bergerak pun orang tolakkan..
Mister Karpal Singh should set a good example for newbies to follow so he has set himself up for criticism and wasted some tax money but delaying parliament proceedings)
But then again as he was undersieged for many years in a parliament dominated by BN MPs (whose capacity to indulge in intelligent debate is anybody’s guess)and at times a speaker that might not be entirely impartial, it is no surprise that Mister Karpal has developed a siege mentality and skill for gamemanship.
It might also be an instance of live by the sword and die by the sword in parliament clashes that is the norm rather than exception in Malaysia.
Sensible application of aggression, Mister Karpal. Please.
kabutzalwayz
– please reconsider your remark “sedangkan bergerak pun orang tolakkan..”
– there are more people with healthy limbs would do much less good and more harm than mister karpal.
While I agree with you that his action was unbecoming, you can’t take his misfortune as a point of attack. The fact that he struggle on with a physical handicap spoke volume of his determination.
Dear Teresa,
Congratulation for being sworn in as the 3rd term MP for Seputeh and being voted in Parliament as the highest majority in the whole of Malaysia.
Do keep up the good work as you need to manage another Kinrara state constituency.
Please be informed that DAP Salak South have created their blog site which can be access at http://dapsalaksouth.blogspot.com/
Hi ya, Teresa!
Good to know you’re now sworn in as 3rd term MP. I’m really proud to have someone like you as my MP (i’m in Seputeh area).. I hope to be able to watch you in action on TV during the next parliament proceedings.. do give the BN guys a tough time, huh! Anyway, I wish you all the best as you prepare yourself for “the great battle” and may the Lord bless you!
Hi,

AS for the uproar over more questions… yes, it was understood given the SURPRISE decision by the SPEAKER…who suppose to allow MPs to seek clarifications…etc… OR else decide fairly..one or two more Qs each from the two side…come on only two sides…
That is the problem with the first parlimen session..

Hey Teresa,
I’m running a web portal for residents of Vista Komanwel
I think we’d all appreciate if you could spend some time checking out what the residents have to say
(specifically about the traffic lights :P)
Congratulations.
Hi Teresa,
It was so thrilling and happy to see DAP has been so successful in this GE2008. I have been the DAP great supporter for the past 3 GE. It just happend that this 2008, I am away from home and the mother of great politic tsunami has occurred. I had missed all the fun.
Anyway, I am very happy to see more Opposition MP in Parliment. I am hoping for more constructive questions raised to BN MP. Instill fear in them. Make sure they toe the line. Down with corruption. I am sick to see my tax payer money going down the drain. I rather give it to beggars irregardless of race.
May the sunshine came finally to this beauty country of mine.
