Hi friends,
Yesterday morning I was supposed to have had a press conference on a road issue at my Kinrara operation center. However, when I was waiting for the journalists, my neighbour came to me and complained about safety problems in my office apartment.
He then asked me and the press to go inside the basement of the building where he showed us a number of iron covers that had gone missing.
I then decided to change the topic of the press conference from the road issue to my office apartment’s problems.
A few of my other neighbours came out, they complained that our office apartment is in a flood prone area. The removal of the iron covers which I suspect to have been stolen have caused a lady to fall into the drain during the flood last year. The poor woman had her leg broken.
I was then brought to the main drain next to the main road, I found that many of the drain covers or concrete flabs have been removed and placed by the road side. I was told that they were lying there for more than a year but nothing was done by the authority. Shocking isn’t??
Looks like there are lots of things for me to do for my Kinrara neighbours.
This guy showed us how a girl fell into a drain during a flood last year.
Look at the drain concrete flabs along the main road drain. They have been lying there for more than a year.

Scrap metal theft gives Kok a shock
28 February 2008 (Thurs)
WHILE Teresa Kok is busy campaigning and helping others in her constituency solve their problems, the Kinrara state seat candidate’s own backyard needs attention, no thanks to scrap metal thieves.
The DAP challenger was shocked to discover that the drain covers near her service centre at the Pusat Perniagaan Kinrara in Seksyen 3 were stolen and had not been replaced since February last year.
Roadside danger: Yip Kien Wah, 44, demonstrating the danger of falling into the uncovered drain at Pusat Perniagaan Bandar Kinrara in Seksyen 3 while Kok (left) looks on.
According to a tenant and food supplier Gary Yang, a woman had fallen into the drain which had been full of rainwater.
“The problems started in 2005. Even when we replaced the missing covers in the basement car park, they were stolen again,” he said.
Kok, the incumbent Seputeh MP, who opened her service centre in the area four months ago, advised the tenants to lodge a police report.
This only goes to show that BN fails their duty in even keeping people safe!!! People of Kinrara, please, please vote for Teresa Kok…we need sufficient voices in the state assembly as well as parliament to defend the rights of RAKYAT and to supervise BN…BN has uncountable misconducts and craps over the past few years…ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
Please…..no more such thinking like “Parliament, vote for DAP. State seat vote for BN”..EVERY SINGLE SEAT, be it Parliament or state MUST BE GIVEN TO OPPOSITION!!!!!
this is not only fault of BN gomen….but mainly because of third world mentality of Malaysian citizens, local authority workers or under paid foreign workers.
just got back from Phuket…their streets are much cleaner and I hardly see any vandalism or enforcement officers
it is pretty much a self regulated place as far as environment is concerned.
Time to restore civic education in schools and have enforcement officers nabbing, fining and punishing vandals.
Theresa, I don’t think that it needs a rocket scientist to significantly reduce or even completely stop the problem of stolen drain covers.
All the local authorities have to do is replace them with concrete ones! It’s a no-brainer.
The same thing happened at the monorail station near where I live.
The drain covers were recently laid and within two days they were gone!
I called up DBKL and informed them about it. I even told them to replace them with concrete ones. This was done.
Well, until today the replacement covers are still there!
All it takes is to think out of the box!
Sorry, I am into taxi licences given out in the past, especially those given enmasse to an individual or a company.
Licences given to individuals for those who drive their own taxis are generally ok. There is a need to ensure among applicants that priority be given to those who are more deserving and more in need than others. A criteria should be worked out and given to civil servants to issue on the guide lines. No diviation from this guide line should be allowed except in very exceptional coses. A senior officer should be the one to exercise this discretion, but he is answerable to the Director General or the Minister concerened.
To bring an end to the old system of giving an individual or a company multiple licences, you need not cancell the licences held but you could levy a premium for such licinces. These favourdd people who hold such licences will attempt to pass it down to those would operate such liceces. This is ok. But for those who hold individual licences the premuum will be much lower. No more multiple licences be issued any furher. From henceforth only individual licences be issued and only to those holder who would operate themselves taking advantage of the lowwer premuium payment for such lciences against multiple licences.
This will over time discourage multiple licence holders from wanting to continue the business.
this will help to bring about a more equitable society.
Your effirts To clamour for this you will be seen to be fighting for the under dogs.
