Is MCA telling the Chinese not to vote for UMNO?

Posted on Friday, 25-01-2008 by Teresa

MCA should categorically explain to Malaysians whether it is urging the Chinese not to vote for UMNO in the upcoming general election.

In an attempt to dissociate itself from UMNO’s policies which have clearly antagonized non-Malays in the last three years, MCA leaders are now claiming that the Chinese should direct their anger at UMNO, not MCA.

MCA leaders such as MP for Petaling Jaya Utara, Chew Mei Fun, and MP for Ayer Hitam, Wee Ka Siong, have on separate occasions urged Chinese voters to “direct their grievances at the source”.

MCA President Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Ting and other leaders must clarify what they mean by “the source of grievances”.

This line of argument also confirms a widespread whispering campaign by MCA members in smaller towns in Kedah and Johore, which has been urging Chinese voters not to desert MCA representatives but “feel free to vote against UMNO reps”.

If MCA feels that it is a victim of UMNO’s dominance, should it not consider quitting the Barisan Nasional altogether? Isn’t it more honorable to make a principled stand than to conduct a whispering campaign to dislodge UMNO reps from behind their backs?

In short, MCA owes Malaysians an explanation.

MCA is dragging DAP into a Chinese muddle and protraying to the Malays that DAP is for Chinese only. Isn’t the kettle calling the pot black?

Either way, UMNO has pissed off Chinese by many incidents such as KJ saying when Malay fights Chinese takes advantage (notice how quiet he is now?), Keris waving, Melaka Pig Farm incident, demolition of temple in Penang, running the economy down with dodgy policies & wastage, age 0ld quote system in every damn thing etc.

It’s up to MCA to clean up the mess UMNO has let behind. As the domineering race, Malays should lead the way to national unity, not to wreck it.

So, MCA expects the Chinese voters to keep it in power?
Do they realise that by doing so, that will inevitably keep UMNO in power?
Unless it is decoupled from the BN, how is it possible to keep one in power and not the other?
I think the the MCA & the other components are now in deep shit because of all the excesses of their master – UMNO, and their complete acquiesce for so long.
Sassy MP, it’s time to administer the coup de grace!

In fact, MCA should quit Barisan Nasional as soon as possible if it truly takes the interests of Malaysian Chinese seriously. Just how much has MCA done for the Malaysian Chinese since it was formed? And recently, MCA had the guts to announce in the headlines of newspapers that the government is ready to award contracts of up to RM50K to Chinese contractors. What is RM50K compared to the millions and billions awarded to bumiputras? It is simply chicken feed and leftovers so what is there to be proud of? Aren’t we citizens at par? Didn’t the Rukunegara state that “membina masyarakat yang ADIL”? So what is so adil about this?

The other reason why MCA should quit BN immediately is the fact that Abdullah has announced that Malaysia IS an ISLAMIC NATION. So what is MCA doing in a parliament run by Muslims? Have all the cabinet ministers, MPs and members of MCA been made HALAL? Do they know the least bit of what an Islamic state is all about? Have they thrown away their ancestral worship tablets at home? Have they been converted?

A vote for MCA=a vote for BN and a vote for BN=a vote for UMNO. Therefore a vote for MCA=a vote for UMNO. Simple mathematical logic!!!
