My supporters and I with the banner whacking Bennie Chin. The wording on the banner means: “If Bennie Chin is not upright, how can he be a suitable upright candidate?”
My volunteer assistant Fong Kok Leong and I holding Chinese papers that show the news report of the squatters’ protest planned by Bennie Chin. The woman standing behind us is Emily.
Yesterday, I called a press conference at the Salak South New Village market to announce some squatter problems, namely wrong names have been registered by DBKL. But the objectives of the press conference was not on this, it was to expose MCA Seputeh’s Bennie Chin’s dirty tactics against me, namely using ‘imported’ people to hold placards to protest against me.
In my press conference, I blasted Bennie Chin for using dirty tactics to whack me. I said, if the squatters have never sought help from me, then they have no right to hold placards to blame me for “failing to take initiative to assist them”.
I have a few hundred thousand people in my constituency. How do I know the problems faced by each and every individual if they don’t come forward for help?
Some of them like to seek help from MCA, I respect their rights and choice to do so. If they go to the MCA for help then they shouldn’t stage a protest to blame me for failing to help them. This is below belt tactics and very unfair on me.
I manage to get Mr Raj, a supervisor of the Ti-Ratana Welfare Home to come out to clarify the matter. Raj confirmed to the reporters that some of the protestors were residents of the welfare home. He said these old folks were misled by others to attend the protest.
They were having tea at a coffee shop when some one came to them and ask them to attend a meeting. These old folks just went along more out of curiosity than anything. He was not happy over what happened and said the Ti-Ratana Welfare Home has no vested political interests in such matters.
After the press conference, we displayed a banner with the cynical wordings slamming Bennie Chin. I wrote the wording in Chinese, because it is a bit difficult to translate the banner wording into English or Malay, as I quoted the words `堂堂正正’ (means upright) used by the MCA President Ong Ka Ting. Ong Ka Ting has made a famous statement in the MCA Assembly previously. He said, “我们要堂堂正正做人,清清白白做官.” To translate it literally means, `One should be an upright person, then only can be a clean official’.
In my banner, I put the wording as “If Bennie Chin is not upright, how can he be an upright/suitable candidate?” I told the media that the past two protests of the constituents that hold placards to protest against me were because Bennie Chin was trying to get attention in his bid to be the MCA candidate in Seputeh constituency in coming general election.
I am disappointed that the China Press did not publish this photo. Sin Chew and Nanyang press carried it. Anyway, I received feedback from members of public that now they understand the issue better and many started to blame Bennie Chin for using old folks to mislead the public and to achieve his political agenda.
Since Bennie Chin likes to play placards games, I’m sure he doesn’t mind me giving him a dose of his own bitter medicine. This is called The Empire Strikes Back 🙂
Well done!
then if BC retorts, if would be “Return of the Chekai”
🙂
