Lim Kit Siang and I stopped by Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in the Kinabatangan Constituency.
(Left:)YB Bung Mokhtar bin Radin, representative of Sepilok? :-))
For those who are unfamiliar with Sabah, you may not have heard of Sepilok. Sepilok is a place for research on orangutan and it is very near to Sandakan. It is in the Kinabatangan Parliamentary constituency.
Frankly speaking, sometimes from the way Bung Mokhtar (MP for Kinabatangan) speaks and behaves, one will wonder whether he represents human being or not.
He used to shout and scold the opposition with loud voice and crude words, and of course, without much substance. From the time he got elected as MP together with me, Po Kuan and Chong Eng till today, he has been associated with a series of sexist remarks.
Many times I asked him outside Dewan Rakyat whether he represents orangutan in Sabah or not, he then smiled and said there are many orangutan in his constituency. Hi hi, no wonder lah!! :-))
In last Parliament sitting, Bung Mokhtar disturbed the DAP MPs again. He likes to blast Kit Siang with his loud voice when Kit Siang is delivering his speech. So, instead of calling him the MP for orangutan, Kit Siang then asked him whether he is the wakil rakyat for Sepilok, when he continued to disturb him again, Kit Siang will then ask whether he wants peanuts. :-))
To call Bung Mokhtar a MP for orangutan will be considered as unparliamentary, but to call him MP for Sepilok will make those who know where Sepilok is smile :-))
In my trip to Sabah at the end of December last year, Dr Hiew drove us to Sandakan from Kudat. He purposely drove us into Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center to have a look. We did not go into the centre to visit the orangutan as we were running out of time, but we took a picture to show to all that we have come to Sepilok.
If I still have chance to meet Bung Mokhtar in Parliment, I will show him the photo and tell him that I have visited his relatives and friends in Sepilok.
Sassy MP. You are a bit naughty and cheeky today. But hey, I think you are entitled to poke the Sepilok MP in the ribs once in a while. After all he is no saint. You know if you look at his photo, you might think he resembles an orangutan in a suit. Maybe he was re-habilited at Sepilok and graduated there.
Next time you see him, just wish him “ook-ook”. Tell him you wanted to visit him up in the tree but you just could not climb his tree. But you did catch his family and relatives during feeding time.
Best of luck.

u mean BN use orangutan as phantom voters? how low they can get?
but really, orang utans exhibit more grace than the MP. The fact that he got elected reflect the quality and the mystery of the votes there.
it is an insult to the orang utans to associate these graceful and highly evolved creatures with kinabatangan.
