I am profoundly dismayed by Gerakan President Dominic Lau’s recent comparison of Muhyiddin and PN leaders to the esteemed Chinese poet, Qu Yuan. This comparison not only lacks insight but also exhibits a blatant disregard for the legacy and significance of Qu Yuan’s contributions. It is an abomination.
It is evident that Dominic Lau lacks a deep understanding of the historical context surrounding Qu Yuan’s era. By equating the political opportunists who orchestrated the “Sheraton Move” to, with absolute impunity, to betray the people’s mandate and topple an democratically elected Pakatan Harapan government with Qu Yuan, who tragically sacrificed himself upon learning of the fall of the Chu Empire, Dominic Lau demonstrates a fundamental flawed misunderstanding of the difference between national traitors and national patriots.
Gerakan, in the past, boasted several capable, passionate, and visionary party leaders who genuinely aspired to build a better Malaysia. Unfortunately, the current Gerakan President, Dominic Lau, seems to have lost touch with his party’s true principles as he desperately aligns himself blindly with the political bosses of Perikatan Nasional.
Dominic Lau has now become a pathetic apologist for Bersatu and PAS leaders, willingly defending the indefensible. In doing so, he has committed a grave and unforgivable error by attempting to draw a parallel between PN leaders and the esteemed poet Qu Yuan.
In essence, Dominic Lau’s vision appears limited, akin to stopping at the tip of the dragon’s tail on the aimless and a rudderless boat he sails.
I implore him to study the history of Qu Yuan and genuinely embrace the true spirit of righteousness that defined Qu Yuan’s actions.
It is crucial that he refrains from making further embarrassing and unfortified statements in his desperate attempt to prove his loyalty and fealty to his political masters.
The jury is out. Let Malaysians judge him accordingly.
