Nomination Day at Kuala Terengganu

Posted on Friday, 09-01-2009Friday, 09-01-2009 by Teresa Media

Dear friends, as you are aware, I was at Kuala Terengganu (KT) to campaign for the PAS candidate, Abdul Wahid, in the past week.

I also organised the charter of a bus to KT on the nomination day for DAP Seputeh members. I was told that they were greeted very warmly by the PAS members in the nomination center.

They were very appreciative of DAP’s presence and the Malay folks at the nomination center asked us for the rocket flags that we brought along. They waved our Rocket flags without any hesitation.

When Kit Siang, Ronnie and I walked into the nomination centre, we received the same greetings from all the PAS members along the way too. Many of them recognised me and called my name. I shook hands with the women and waved to the men.

I was quite surprised with their friendliness to me. Looks like not all Malays have been brainwashed by Utusan Malaysia. Maybe they do not read that paper at all 🙂

Waiting for the Returning Officer to announce for Nomination Success is really a pain. It is really a waste of time there. I chatted with so many people in the nomination centre.

I also walked into the BN section and chit chat with the BN folks. Those Puteri were very happy to receive me cos I wore pink. They said I was wearing their “uniform”.

Towards the end of closing time, I went into the BN camp site and chatted with the ‘top guns’ and “small guns” of UMNO. I saw Koh Tsu Koon sitting with Syed Hamid. I knew Koh since campus days, I went up to shake his hand, and I pointed at Syed Hamid and told him that “this is the man who put me under the ISA”.

Syed Hamid immediately reacted and said I was treated so well and yet I complaint so much. Our conversation attracted the attention of Hishamuddin Hussein Onn who asked me why don’t I like to eat eggs. Syed Hamid chipped in and said that I was provided all sorts of food and I was given chopsticks, which is against the standard operating procedure.

Najib then came to us and observed our argument on the ISA. I told Hishammuddin that his boys went to lodge police report on me insulting eggs. I said it is really crazy for the police to accept such report. Hisham seemed not aware of such acts by his boys, he looked surprised to hear that.

I jestfully told them that when we take over power, we will put all of them under the ISA. Hisham laughed at me for being so confident, he immediately asked “I thought you want to abolish the ISA?”. I said I will put them all under the ISA for some time first, then only we abolished the ISA. They all laughed … 🙂 🙂 🙂

      cute banter

I remember the pink attire…you went to some gotong royong in it….

really pleased to hear DAP is being received by Malays, I hope DAP can grow into a truly Malaysian party

ah…Temenggong is right, our Sassy MP should go to KT.

If Puteri Wanita thinks wearing Pink conforms with them, I wonder what they would do when they see the Pink Panther.

Let’s hope another win for PR.

So bold and courageous like a worthy warrior for God. You are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is on the world.

May you continue to be the bridge who willingly stand in the gap for all races. Not for yourself but to unite the Bangsa Malaysia as our forefathers agreed and enshrined in the Federal Constitution long before our time.

      YB,

If Karpal Singh wants to fall into the trap to discuss Hudud Law it is his problem and should not draw others into the trap he has fallen into. What is the use to discuss Hudud Law when he is unlikely to live to see it implemented.

Let those who are young enough to make decision to decide. Do not spoil their chances of forming the next government. I am not trying to be sarcastic, but just ask ourselves,

1)How many Karpal Singh, Ranjit Singh and Rattan Singh are there now without turbans and do not carry the swords. Are we to say they are no longer of the religion which is believed by those with turbans and carry swords. So we see a religious practice can change. The Karpal Singh has also changed, so why can’t Hudud Law change?

Can we say that those who practise yoga are Hindus? This cannot be true, as many Christians, Muslims, Buddhist and Taoist are practicing Yoga and nobody wants to discuss Hinduism in this manner. So who say Yoga is only for the Hindus?

2)Another example is Tai-Chi, if we see Tai Chi in its present form, the Chen founders and the Shaolin Masters would cry and object to the manner the art is debased. It is the highest form of Martial art and now it is just a lady’s exercise for everyone and not part of Taoism or Buddhism. Why? It is because the people have changed the art and the practice.

So Hudud Law can also change with the passage of time. It may come to a point when it is only symbolic when all the citizens of this country of different races and religion can accept it.

What form and manner it is to be evolved and how it can be adapted to the Constitution is for the future young generation to accept and not by those who have passed their prime time in life.

3)I always said China is a good example for all the leaders in the world to follow. China is a Communists Country. Rightly the Christian, the Muslims and the Hindu would have nothing to do with China. Karl Marx says religion is the opium of the masses. But look now, all the countries in the world are eagerly and willingly to do the business and have cultural contacts with China. Why are they doing so, when China is a communist country. We cannot say that it is not a Communist Country or else the Portrait of Mao Tse Tung would be taken down immediately. The Chinese dare not say they are not communist but we all know that they are capitalist.

4)We say this is symbolic. We accept a concept that is good, but, be practical in the way we want to do things and China has shown the example. They have accepted Adams Smith (the Wealth of Nation), so we hope that the dogmatic attitude of Karpal Singh should not affect the future generation and please phase away gently, for the good of those who are working to establish a new era , free from corruption, inefficiency and inequality. Let there be democracy, let each party advocate what is best and let the people decide what is good.
