It was my pleasure to accept the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce’s invitation to launch today the 8th Malaysia-China Entrepreneur Conference 2018 (MCEC2018 ) to be held in Nanjing, China on 19th Sept 2018.
I laud this effort to provide a platform for businesses in Malaysia and China to forge more cooperation and further strengthen our bilateral trade and ties.
Malaysia and China have strong trade in agricommodity, registering at RM23.63 billion in 2017. Total value of Malaysia’s export of agricommodity and agricommodity-based products to China in 2017 was RM19.1 billion, an increase of 27% compared with the figure in 2016.
The ‘trade war’ between China and the US provides an opportunity for our exporters to offer their products to the China markets, including palm oil and palm-based products.
I also had the opportunity to meet and chat with many officials including Mdm. Shi Ziming, the economic and commercial counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and we exchanged ideas on how to increase our existing bilateral cooperation and trade.
