I went to give support to a car-wash fundraising initiative by a group of young people and kids in Taman Yarl Kuala Lumpur. The kids charge RM10 per car to raise funds for Tabung Pakatan Harapan Malaysia to help to repay debts of the country.
I came and let my car be washed by the kids. I then presented the certificate of participation to the kids too. These kids and their parents were so happy to be able to participate in this meaningful programme.
I didn’t initiate this programme and I got to know about it yesterday evening. The programme was initiated by a retired woman called Mdm Padma.
I was asked by the media about the criticism against the setting up of Tabung Harapan Malaysia. My answer was it wasn’t the government which mooted the idea of setting up the Tabung Harapan Malaysia, the idea came from a young man in the social media. This idea received warm response from the public and many wanted to donate to the government to pay off the debts.
The government then set up this special account for the people to channel their donations to the government.
Many Malaysians are having a sense of ownership to Malaysia after GE14. They are watching closely to statements made by the government leaders and they make comments actively.
I have never seen Malaysians being so united and so patriotic.
GE14 was not only giving birth to a new government but it gave birth to a new movement of patriotism and a new hope for Malaysia.
The car-washing for Tabung Harapan Malaysia initiative by the kids in Taman Yarl this morning raised RM4K.
I thought this activity can raise a few hundred ringgit only. RM4K is much higher than my expectation.
Congratulations to the kids and their great parents. Their initiative to help to repay debts for the nation is an inspiration to many of us.
