Deepavali Open House at Paya Jaras

Posted on Wednesday, 12-11-2008Friday, 14-11-2008 by DAP Seputeh

Each state constituency in Selangor is given a RM500,000 development fund for us to help the poor and organisations that need financial assistance.

For the constituencies under BN, each exco member is given the task to look after the welfare of the people or organise events for the people there. I have been entrusted to look after Paya Jaras area, an area at Sungai Buloh. I am the “foster mother” of Paya Jaras state seat which is under the Subang Parliamentary seat. 🙂

A supporter, Mr Tham from Paya Jaras area took the initiative to organise a Deepavali open house in a Indian community at Paya Jaras on 5th November 2008.

According to Mr Tham, the Indians there are quite poor. It is the first time for them to have the state government sponsoring Deepavali open house in their area.

I told them about what had happened in Parliament, and how the Selangor government is being attacked by BN via media controlled by them.

YB Sivarasa and I light up the Deepavali lamp at the beginning of the dinner.

This is Mr Tham. He has been instrumental in organising this Deepavali Open House at Paya Jaras.

3 wheelchairs were given to poor folks in the area

Mr Tham knows the need of the poor Indians in the area. He arranged for me to give away wheel chairs and even a bed to the sick people in the area.

We gave away a bed to a sick man in Paya Jaras.

Many Indian folks attended Deepavali open house in their area for the first time. We organised it in a poor area.

Thank you, YB Teresa Kok. That’s the way to go. Those in need of help irrespective of racial origins should be attended to in every possible way. This is a plus factor for all Pakatan Rakyat (PR) elected representatives. Keep up the good work despite your heavy and tight schedules as an MP, Selangor state ex-co member and also state assemblywoman.

YB, I think you need to bring to the EXCO or state assembly that the RM 500k financial fund allocated for each constituency is not enough. If I may suggest it should be at least RM 1 to 1.5 million or better still all YBs to come out with a plan for what are the programs of development that need to be carried out for within the term. At least you and the public can see the result and you will be proud off to show if ever you have to call it quit.
The other issue is, surely can be suggested that each wakil rakyat be allocated with them at least 3 staffs paid by the state or government and as well as office space befit with the job and function that you have to carry out.
I find it rather ridiculous that you sometimes have to fork out from your pocket which is unfair unless you get yourself involve like the BN people that grab all the business opportunity. May be you get some sponsorship but that is beside the point.
Just make sure it is all transparent and accountable. Surely the system can be reviewed. It is time for change in the name of democracy and for the people and country.

“The people have been blessed because of your effort to redeem them back to the glory of God.

We believe all your prayer and expectation will be heard by God because you have stop to hear the voice and woes of the poor and poverty.”

I am also for “positive racism”.

Let’s help our Indian brothers and sisters for so long they have not received a fair amount of attention

Let’s tailor some specific programs to tend to their specific needs

Let’s the able and willing to assist the needy and desperate

Just tell the able and willing what’s need to be done!
