Question to Tan Sri Adenan

Posted on Wednesday, 23-03-2016Wednesday, 23-03-2016 by -ec-

My question to Tan Sri Adenan: “How many more oppositionists will be banned before you feel confident you can win big in the coming Sarawak state election? ”

Yesterday, Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu was banned from entering Sarawak. His ban is an addition to the list of oppositionists who have been banned from entry into Sarawak.

The ban has further proven that the Sarawak chief minister Tan Sri Adenan is a pseudo reformist though he has been trying to portray himself as a reformist. The ban also shows Adenan’s unwillingness to fight the opposition fair and square in the coming general election.

I want to ask Adenan a question: “How many more oppositionists will be banned before you feel confident you can win big in the coming Sarawak state election? “

It cannot be denied that since helming the state government, Adenan has said some politically correct remarks and introduce some popular measures, but a true liberal minded person and a true reformist will not abuse the immigration powers like what he has done.

And if Adenan is a fair and brave person, he must be prepared to make the coming Sarawak state election a free, fair and clean election. Banning political rivals from West Malaysia into Sarawak indicates not only his unwillingness to fight the opposition fair and square; it also indicates his lack of confidence of the people’s support for him and BN.

I wish to remind senior Sarawak minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing not to justify the ban on oppositionists with general statement like the state government sees social and religious harmony as non negotiable elements.

I myself have been banned from entry into Sarawak since 2014 and till today, I have not been told why I have been banned.

Neither must he mislead the people by asserting that the policy is within Sarawak’s constitution and should never be questioned by anyone. As a senior state minister, he should know that the power is not an absolute power that can be used to ban anyone without any valid grounds.

I was also banned from entering Sabah since Feb last year. Although I am elected Member of Parliament, yet I am not allowed to travel to the eastern states which are parts of my country.

I challenge James Masing to reveal how and why I have become a threat to Sarawak.
