One of the items in Lim Kit Siang’s 75th birthday dinner was a speech by his eldest grandchild, Rachel Lim, who is also Lim Guan Eng’s eldest daughter.
When Rachel was small, she was always brought by her grandfather to the DAP HQ. When Lim Guan Eng was charged under Sedition Act, Rachel and her siblings always appeared at the functions of Sympathy, Support and Solidarity with Lim Guan Eng campaign (SSS campaign) together with their mother Betty Chew.
I have not met Rachel after the SSS campaign or after her father was released from Kajang prison. I was so happy to see her speaking on stage that night. Time flies, she has become a pretty and smart lady now.
After she and her siblings and nephew/niece came down from the stage, I went up to her and asked her whether she still remembered me. I asked her whether she remembered I had carried her when she was small, she said she remembered. LGE’s brother Guan Chun heard that and asked me to carry her now :-))
I took the opportunity to take a photo with her for remembrance. Wishing her a bright future.
