Datuk Paul Low today said there was no reason for him to be the minister in charge of integrity if Malaysians including his Cabinet colleagues feared God.
Speaking at the Christian Federation of Malaysia’s (CFM) Christmas Day hi-tea in Petaling Jaya, the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said government leaders and Cabinet members would be fair, just and full of integrity if they feared God.
“If we have the fear of God, there’s no need for me to be in the government actually,” said Low in his speech.
Low said he was also speaking about his colleagues in the Cabinet and government leaders.
He also urged Christians to promote the 1Malaysia concept, saying it was not about ethnicity or assimilation, but about finding an identity through common values.
Low conceded that many ridiculed 1Malaysia because “there are certain people, certain leaders (who) said certain things” and the government appeared to not be serious about it.
“Sometimes it looks like we even implement policies which contradict the spirit of 1Malaysia.
“But nevertheless, I believe in the spirit of 1Malaysia, because I believe that there is a hope to give us that identity.”
Low added that Malaysia would be a great nation if “any group as a majority looks after the interests of the minority”. – December 25, 2015.
