It is shocking and in fact unbelievable that Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has proposed that a Malays-only version of Low Yat Plaza be opened in Kuala Lumpur; nearly a month after a racial scuffle broke out at the popular computer and electronics mall.
He said that the proposed store, suggested to be located on the third floor of the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) Headquarters along Jalan Raja Laut, which he called Low Yat 2, would only allow Malay traders to set up shop.
How could he have mooted such an idea which is clearly a policy of racial segregation? Where will the country be heading if such a policy is adopted?
I would like to ask Ismail Sabri, after setting up Low Yat 2 for the Malays, is he going to set up Plaza 3 for Indians, Low Yat 4 for Ibans, Low Yat 5 for the KDMs and Low Yat 6 for the Orang Asli?
I would like to advise Ismail Sabri to stop being ridiculous and extreme. As a cabinet minister, he should promote national unity but not racial segregation.
The fact that Ismail Sabri has mooted the idea shows that he is definitely the Minister who is most opposed to the Prime Minister’s 1 Malaysia concept.
If deputy Umno President Tan Sri Muhyiddin could be dropped from the Cabinet on the ground that” cabinet members should not air their differences in an open forum that can affect public opinion against the government and Malaysia”, then what is to stop the Prime Minister from expelling Sabri who has openly and blatantly gone against his 1 Malaysia concept?
Ismail has also betrayed his oath of ministerial office to serve all Malaysians regardless of race and religion.
If Najib could argue that Muhyiddin has committed a sin that warranted expulsion, Ismail Sabri has in fact committed a bigger sin. Ismail Sabri should be axed from the Cabinet.
