I attended the funeral service to pay last respect to Philip Mok (莫绍南), the founder and administrator of Rumah Victory (得胜之家)located at Bukit Kuchai, Puchong.
I know Philip Mok for quite some time as he has set up a few shelter homes for the orphans and old folks in Old Klang Road and Puchong areas. Besides, he has also founded a few Christian rehabilitation centers for the drug addicts in a few states.
Philip Mok was a drug addict when he was young. It was Christianity that changed his life, and motivated him to set up drug addict rehabilitation centers to help the drug addicts to lead a new life, and shelter homes for the poor and needy base on the teaching of Christianity.
I understand that he has set up 12 shelter homes throughout the country. He has told me once that he needs to spend minimum RM80,000 per month to pay for the expenses of all these centers. I got a shock to hear that as it is not easy to raise so much fund to maintain this social enterprise.
Philip Mok died of liver cancer. It was quite a shock for many of us when we received the news few days ago as he looked healthy.
Dear Philip Mok, you have fought a good fight in your life, you have touched and changed many lives. We thank you for your service for the community. I believe you will be rewarded greatly by the Maker and the Lord as you enter into His Kingdom.
RIP, Philip Mok.
