Activities After ISA Detention

Posted on Saturday, 11-10-2008Sunday, 12-10-2008 by DAP Seputeh

I have had series of meetings with supporters, media and diplomats after I was released from the ISA detention.

I have told them my sufferings and painful story. Below are some of the them:

Thanksgiving Dinner For Supporters/Members at Kinrara on 29th September 08

Thanksgiving dinner held at the road side of Kinrara service center to thank supporters and members who supported me while I was under detention.

YB Tan Kok Wai and few other DAP elected reps came to speak at our thanksgiving dinner.

Interview By ABC (30th September 2008)
On 30th September 2008, I was interviewed by Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on my detention on the ISA and my views on political situation in the country. Initially, I thought they just wanted to interview me for fifteen minutes, but when I met them in my Kinrara service center, I was surprised they interviewed me for more than an hour.

From the questions they asked me, I know they have done their home work and they know quite well about the political tussles in Malaysia. You just can’t bluff them.

Look, my office has to be re-arranged and turned into the  mini-studio for about two hours for that interview.

Meeting With Taman Desa Residents On 30th September

Taman Desa residents presented me a huge banner that show support to me and to protest against the ISA detention. From right: Mrs Tee, Ang, Yap Chai Huat, Me, William

Meeting With Diplomats on 9th October 08
The detention of the Sin Chew reporter, RPK and me under the ISA has aroused the concern of the international community. A number of them such, especially those in the EU, issued statements and expressed concern to the Malaysian government. On Oct 9, my colleague YB Liew Chin Tong, the International Secretary of the DAP, organised a session with diplomats to thank them for their support to me and tell them about my ISA detention.

Diplomats who attended the session included new and senior diplomats. For some new diplomats, the use of ISA and my detention has opened their eyes about political situation in Malaysia.

    Dear YB Mother Teresa,

Congrats on your Aidil fitri gathering.

Wish I am nearby, wonder if I would be allowed to eat some yummy yummy food.

We in Sabah never had any problems amongst races. Non moslem always are invited to moslems houses and enjoys all the cakes, and friendship. And vice versa.

Only when the UMNO politics and their little Napoleans turned up to rule Sabah did we start feeling the discriminations to certain groups.

I do hope we could return back to the harmony of the past, before UMNO came and destroyed the racial peace here.

Dear YB, happy that you are alright after your ordeal and keeping yourself very busy. Did you inform/advise/tell the foreigh diplomats about the actual picture in this country. Do tell them everything the good and the very bad. They need to be well inform with regard to the BN/UMNO government. Take good care.

    Granpa,

“Mother Teresa”? YB is still single-lah. Angel Teresa might be more suitable tribute as there can only be one Mother Teresa (may she rest in peace)

The Australian journalists and foreign diplomats gathering have clearly show that our Malaysian political scene is a cause for concern for people who value human rights across borders. In this globalised world, it is pure hypocracy to source for foreign investment and put up the defense of “not to interfere with domestic affair of a country”

    YB Teresa

This is truly a Malaysian for Malaysia. The battle cry that has been achieved. I wonder how many YBs from the ruling coalition organized such gatherings for the harmonious Malaysian, evidence existing, such as following your examples rather than holding open house just for a hand shake and yet daring to present false racial allegations to justify your detention?

The peoples’ love, overwhelming support for you from all the diversified races in country are testimonials of what you are and have done for them. Even it takes a BN Minister to resign in protest of what has been done against you, what else for the international communities not to shed a piece of concern over you, I doubt.

As some say,you being the Angel or Mother as you are in the Catholic faith, you are an exemplary YB that the rakyat want. However, so unfortunate that the people in Sarawak may never able to have one like you to represent them.

Astonishing gatherings in Kinrara and USJ, ABC interview and meetings with the diplomats are a sort of moral victory indeed.

    Your right Mr Lee…

Initially, when i saw photos of YB TK visiting the sick (and i have copied those pics as proof in my laptops) she reminded me of the original Mother Teresa.

But now I do agree, Angel Teresa is more apt…

In future that will be my terminology.

BTW, did u attend the ATK raya gathering? good food eh? wish i could be around an take photos… he hehe
