A tribute to YB Teresa Kok (detained under the ISA on Friday, 12 September , 2008)
You champion diversified inclusion,
They practise racial discriminative exclusion;
They get away crime free,
You’re made the “fall-guy-be”.
They say a lot of flase things,
All of them are just stings.
They try to break your spirit,
By ways crude and stupid;
Stay tough, stay calm and stay true,
Many believe and look up to you.
We pray for your safety and health,
Hoping you’ll be strong and well
A LETTER TO THE UN SECRETARY GENERAL…
Dear United Nation Secretary General
I am from the Land Below the Wind, Borneo, and I am writing in this manner because this is the only way I dont get detained myself under the draconian Internal Security Act, which as is being abused blatantly by the Malaysian Government of UMNO, as I write.
I am specially worried over the welfare of MP Teresa Kok, our very own Malaysian Mother Teresa, who is being detained for minimum 28 days by the Malaysian Police under a trump-up allegation that she caused racial tension by stopping the Azan moslem prayer at a local mosque.
At the time of her arrest, she had just finished distributing Ramadhan goodies to members of her moslem constituents and even visited a sick moslem, all dressed up in Malay dress called the Baju Kurung.
As such, any allegation of her insulting the Islam religion is purely the work of a very jealous and sore loser from the ruling party which was trounched in the last state election.
However since the ruling party is still in power at Federal level, they have now abused their power of arrest to make our Mother Teresa suffer under detention and caged in a cell, treated worse than a common criminal or terrorist.
Example of Human Rights Abuse being committed at present are too many to write, but it suffice to beg for the assistance from the international community to stop this inhuman action of a Tin Pot dictatorship slowly but steadily growing in the once peaceful land of Malaysia.
I therefore beg the united nation to come over and see for yourselves the actual happenings here before it gets worse and lives start getting lost. Above all, we want our Mother Teresa freed because she is innocent of any crimes or any act of threats against our country.
Her unlawful detention is also depriving her own people from the various services that she has been giving all these while, actually for nearly 15 years as an MP, there was no record of her ever belittling any race or religion. We hope the united nations would give this matter an urgent attention.
Yours sincerely Sabahfan

Hi Teresa, what is the difference between kidnap and your recent detention under ISA? Honestly, I can’t see the difference. I read in Berita Harian Online today: “Selepas penahanan dan siasatan dijalankan, polis berpuas hati tiada lagi sebab untuk beliau terus ditahan lalu memutuskan untuk membebaskannya,” kata [Timbalan Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Ismail Omar] dalam kenyataan yang dikeluarkan di sini, semalam.
Does that statement mean that our Malaysian police just detain people under the Internal Security Act at their whims and fancies without first investigating? I would have thought that such a draconian law should be used very very judiciously and with careful thought. Obviously, it has not. Is Malaysia still a democratic country? Shame on Abdullah Badawi, arguably the worst Prime Minister that Malaysia has ever had. He has betrayed our trust in him. I have never hated Barisan Nasional so much in my life, not until your recent arrest together with Tan Hoon Cheng and Raja Petra Kamarudin. Honestly, between the devil and the deep blue sea, I used to prefer the Barisan to Anwar Ibrahim, but I now hope Anwar takes over the government soon.
I read the Star Online dated 23 September: “Court strikes out Teresa Kok’s application”.
Don’t be disappointed with the strike out, after all most of us anticipated that to happen. So far, my guesses on court decisions have been rather accurate. At least you try and you have confirmed what we had anticipated.
