Dear friends,
Two weeks ago, I was in Bali attended the IPU conference, I was quite sick when I was there and it wass not convenient for me to use internet, so I did not blog.
Last week, I was busy with Parliament sitting. The Parliament sat till 7pm, and till mid night last Thursday, so I was bogged down preparing speeches in order to participate in the debates.
I really did not expect the Parliament roof to bocor again on last Wednesday, and I never expected that the roof leak can be linked to women’s monthly period and turned into a national and an international scandal. The words used by the MP for Kinabatangan and Jasin show the things that always appeared in their mind.
I have been running in and out on Po Kuan’s case. I still remember that fateful Wednesday when Parliament sitting ended at 7pm. All of us were exhausted with the series of marathon Parliament sittings, so I suggested to Po Kuan and Chong Chieng Jen (MP for Bandar Kuching) that we go tenguk Spiderman 3. Both of them gladly agreed to go.
Before we left the Chamber, Chow Kon Yeow checked the websites of some Chinese papers to see how the press reported our “hoo-ha” in the Dewan Rakyat in the afternoon. We were very shocked to read about the word used by Jasin and Kinabatangan on the roof leaking case. Both Po Kuan and I felt very embarrassed to read that, and we wondered why we never heard them mentioning such thing when we were engaged in that fierce firefight in the afternoon.
After watching Spiderman in Mid Valley, Po Kuan then received call from Kit Siang about the two UMNO guys. He reminded her to make noise in the Dewan Rakyat the next day.
It is very embarrasing for women to even think about it, sigh, not to mention that we have to make it into an issue and shout about it in the Parliament.
Well, whatever need to be done have to be done, no matter how embarrassing it is. In Opposition politics, handling gutter politics from Umno comes with the terrority.
After this episode spins into national attention, I then realised that even men feel embarrass to read about it. Ha ha!! I am so glad to see men, especially young men present in the protest outside Sharizat’s ministry.
Jasin and Kinabatangan, if you still refuse to apologise, you will be judged by the court of Malaysian public and cursed by all women.
It is really time to give you two a lesson that you have not been taught: Respect your neighbours as you respect youselves.
